Meet Pilar Josephine Lu

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Pilar Josephine Lu a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Pilar Josephine, thank you so much for joining us and offering your lessons and wisdom for our readers. One of the things we most admire about you is your generosity and so we’d love if you could talk to us about where you think your generosity comes from.

My mom is a big part of this. We didn’t have much growing up but I always saw my mom go out of her way to share what we had extra of. She would build beautiful friendships with everyone. She never discriminated any working class. From sharing her leftovers from a party she just attended to the parking attendants, to baking sweets to share with the neighbors. My mom was always there willing to lend a helping hand and putting smiles on everybody’s faces.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

Being a Realtor has been such a dream! Helping people especially families begin their next journey of purchasing one of the biggest investments in life feels so good. Working hand in hand from beginning until the end from finding a home that fits their needs is so beautiful. The ups and downs we go through together are challenges that we take on. And in the end to see all the hard work pay off when handing them the keys is a natural high and I would never trade that for anything in the world.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

I would say drive, discipline and being consistent has always been the most powerful tools I have learned as I get older. Up to this day I still live life and my business towards these qualities. The more you push yourself, the more you try, and the everyday of working hard really pays off. It doesn’t take overnight, it sometimes takes years but when you are consistent and never let disappointment get in the way you will see it all come together.

Honesty is also something I live by everyday. My Life and Business thrive on honesty. Honesty is always noticed and people tend to love honesty and that is how I’ve grown to live life and business and it has never let me down.

Before we go, maybe you can tell us a bit about your parents and what you feel was the most impactful thing they did for you?

Showing me that just because I am a woman it doesn’t mean my skills and voice should not be heard. They taught me to always be myself and be opinionated. They showed me that I can do and be anything I want especially if I put my Heart into it. That has made all the difference in my life and I am forever grateful for it.
