Meet PK BIJOUX

We were lucky to catch up with PK BIJOUX recently and have shared our conversation below.

PK, appreciate you making time for us and sharing your wisdom with the community. So many of us go through similar pain points throughout our journeys and so hearing about how others overcame obstacles can be helpful. One of those struggles is keeping creativity alive despite all the stresses, challenges and problems we might be dealing with. How do you keep your creativity alive?
I was a very creative child and realized early on that I am extremely visual. I need to see something interesting, fascinating or beautiful at every glance. That forced me to create in my personal presentation, decorating, painting, sculpting and eventually building jewelry and accessories. My creativity is my driving force and is fed with art, museums, travel, flea markets, observing everything around me. A requote by Grace Coddington, “keep your eyes open, you never know what will inspire you”

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I began creating extraordinary jewelry and accessories because I could not find anything wonderful and unique to purchase. I use recycled vintage jewels from famous designers, Miriam Haskell, Schiaparelli etc. paired with oddities such as car parts or doll parts to construct something new and unique. I have high brand recognition in London due to The Pop Group but have just moved to Northern CA and currently seeking locations to sell thru. My pieces are also available in SoHo, NYC thru Flying Solo or online at PKBijoux.com. I prefer direct sales because I have always felt that jewelry is a love affair. Buy it, if you Love it.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Oddly enough, even though I have always been focused on fashion in some form, I am also a bit of an engineer. I like to fix things and figure out how things work or can function better. I build every piece of jewelry myself and in doing so, many of the disparent pieces do not want to fit together. It takes that engineer in me to decipher a way for the pieces to work. The most important quality is passion. If you discover a passion for anything, follow it. Passion is the key to happiness. If you enjoy creative passion you will find joy. The three things for me have been; 1) discovering and using natural abilities. 2) Reach beyond conventional ideals and expectations. 3) Follow your passion, eyes wide open. Think outside of the box. Dare to Be unique.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
I am seeking collaborative situations to sell through. I have had success in the past with an exclusive high end design company that had a similar price point from ($500-$3100) on my pieces. A recognizable brand collaboration is top of the lists. Collaboration on the design level is also of interest. When I am presented with new fashion designs it stimulates new direction in my work. I am open to working with companies in the US, Europe and Asia. Connect thru pkbijoux@outlook.com
