Meet Ploy Warisa Thepsurin

We recently connected with Ploy Warisa Thepsurin and have shared our conversation below.

Ploy Warisa, so excited to have you with us today. So much we can chat about, but one of the questions we are most interested in is how you have managed to keep your creativity alive.

Learning new things and looking at the outside world. Creativity comes from inspiration and inspiration comes from things we see. When you learn or see something new, your brain will produce some thoughts and opinions like.. oh should it be like that? Why is it not like that? and I want it to be like that. Then creativities come a long. That’s why people go for a walk or read a book when they run out of ideas. There is no point trying to extract the ideas out when your brain is clouded.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

My name is Ploy Warisa Thepsurin and I go under my pen name Plizoy. I’m an illustrator based in Bangkok, Thailand. I offer all sorts of illustration services and storyboarding even though my main area is illustrating children’s books for clients. Drawing and writing makes me feel like I’m entering my own world of imagination and I can do anything in that world so it’s kind of like a playground.

I’m doing several book projects of my own right now and I also enjoy creating original characters Lui Kajon Bo, there are the explorer trios and you can read their stories on my social medias or #LuiKajonBo.

I also have a small art business selling my merch online and in art markets. So check out online shops on my website and if you ever come to visit Thailand, check my IG story where I update my art market schedule.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

My very first book project is the “Three friends of winter” which is about the life lesson you can learn from three kinds of tree that don’t shed in winter. The main themes are perseverance, resilience and flexibility. Keep getting up even if you fall over and over again, keep doing what you are doing and improving it and be flexible on the situation that you should do.

Whatever you are creating. You gotta be humble and confident at the same time. Love your own works but always find the flaw of it so you can improve. Don’t be afraid to create and show it to the world, you’re making your own memories and legacy so if you want to do it, just do it now.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?

I’m open to all kinds of illustration projects both domestic and international whether it’s a book, storyboard, comics, illustration on stationary or on a package, basically anything that would fit with my drawing style. I’ve also written a silence book because I like storytelling without words. If there is a publisher or agent who is interested in silent books, feel free to contact me. Best way to reach out for me is through my social medias or e-mail [email protected]
