We recently connected with Powerslide Pan and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Powerslide, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
I discovered my life’s purpose through a journey of trial and error.
In high school, I dreamed of becoming a novelist, spending my days buried in books and writing stories. I was admitted to the physics department in college, but after a year, I realized it wasn’t my true passion, so I transferred to the law department. After graduation, I worked as a legal assistant at a law firm.
It wasn’t until 2002, when I took a trip to Tibet, that my perspective on life changed. This journey opened my heart and led me to photography, allowing me to capture everything I saw and experienced through my camera. My work eventually earned me several awards.
In recent years, I began studying AI-generated art, using AI imagery to bring my imagination to life. To my surprise, my long-dormant dream of writing novels started to resurface. By combining photography techniques with storytelling, I transformed the novels I had written years ago into frame-by-frame animated visuals, finally realizing the dream I had pursued for so many years.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
Recently, I established my personal studio, Power Studio, where I primarily focus on utilizing AI-generated content for video production. I transform the mythological stories I have collected into a series of images using Midjourney, then process them through Luma Dream Machine to generate short animations. Finally, I edit and compile these segments into a complete short film, bringing my dream of creating novel-inspired movies to life.
In addition, I integrate figurine photography with AI-generated imagery, using Photoshop to composite fantastical visuals that narrate a fictional story. Inspired by Baudrillard’s simulation theory, these images exist in a space between reality and illusion—originating from the real world yet detached from it. My work seeks to explore the gap between truth and fiction, portraying a vision of reality that is, paradoxically, more vivid and striking than reality itself. This concept serves as the central theme of my current creative projects.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
The Three Most Influential Qualities, Skills, and Areas of Knowledge in My Life
1. The Spirit of Daring to Try
It is because of my fearless and adventurous spirit that I have been able to constantly push my own limits and reach new heights. For example, during my 2002 expedition across Tibet and Xinjiang, I broke free from my original worldview and began observing the world from a completely new perspective. This experience not only broadened my horizons but also allowed me to fully dedicate myself to artistic creation. Had I remained within my comfort zone, my achievements today would not have been possible.
2. The Refinement of My Photography Skills
Since my 2002 journey through Tibet and Xinjiang, photography has become my primary means of documenting the world. Through the small frame of the camera’s viewfinder, I have learned to observe, understand, and express—photography is not merely about capturing moments but also about telling stories in a unique visual language. The world, in turn, has responded with vibrant and colorful imagery, which has ultimately become an integral part of my life, nurturing my creative process.
3. The Pursuit of Philosophical Knowledge
The study of philosophy has deepened the meaning of my visual storytelling, allowing my works to transcend the surface and reach profound intellectual depths. Metaphysics has inspired me to explore the boundaries between reality and illusion, much like Inception’s exploration of dreams and reality. Epistemology has shaped my approach to narrative perspectives, as seen in Rashomon’s examination of truth through multiple viewpoints. Ethics has enabled me to portray moral dilemmas and the complexities of human nature, similar to The Dark Knight’s blurred lines between good and evil. Philosophical reflection provides a conceptual framework for my artistic expression, making my works not just an emotional release but also a profound exploration of existence, knowledge, and values.

What has been your biggest area of growth or improvement in the past 12 months?
I have always been passionate about artistic creation and have even won several awards. However, art had always remained just a hobby for me—I never considered making it my main profession. But over the past 12 months, everything has changed dramatically.
Eleven months ago, the company I worked for went bankrupt due to poor management, leading to massive layoffs, and I lost my job as a result. During this time, I attended numerous job interviews but was repeatedly rejected. This made me start contemplating a career change. Coincidentally, AI-generated art was rapidly advancing at that time, so I began learning AI-generated illustration, reigniting my creative journey and participating in competitions and submissions.
After a period of exploration, I developed a method to transform my previously written film scripts into animated shorts. Using prompts, I first converted the storyboard into a series of static images. Then, I utilized AI tools to generate short five-second clips. Finally, I edited these clips together into a five-minute short film—realizing my long-held dream of filmmaking.
At the same time, I combined my photography skills and digital retouching techniques, integrating real-life figurine photography with AI-generated visuals to create imaginative scenes that explore the boundary between reality and the virtual world. Excitingly, when I submitted these works to competitions, I was awarded first prize. This recognition made me deeply reconsider my path—should I pursue art as a full-time career, or should I return to my previous profession and settle for an uninspired routine?
This has been the biggest turning point in my life over the past 12 months.
