We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Pranav Mehta a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Pranav with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
My grandfather’s work ethic and dedication have left a lasting impression on me. His unwavering commitment to his work, even until his last day, is a testament to his strong character and values. After his passing , I was still amazed to hear about him from people who described him as someone who embodied such perseverance and passion for what he did. By following in his footsteps and drawing inspiration from his example, I am trying to honour his memory and also carrying forward his legacy of hard work and determination.

I am a professional photographer currently based in Los Angeles, California. I specialise in shooting Fashion, Concerts/Night Clubs and Weddings.
My journey as a photographer started in Mumbai, in a middle class household full of Gujarati Businessmen, who spoke numbers all day. I was always drawn/attracted towards a camera, the tiny buttons and the fact that you could stop time amazed me and still amazes me. My love for the camera even though was something that I lost at an early age, it found me again many years later at a very weird stage in my life. It gave me solace, it gave me confidence and it gave me peace.
My career currently as a visual artist through the medium of photography is where I try to portray confidence and authority and the vulnerability in simplicity
With a background in fashion, I understand the importance of visually compelling imagery that captures the essence of a brand, style, or individual. Whether it’s a high-fashion editorial shoot, runway coverage, or commercial campaign, I try to bring a unique perspective and expertise to every project.
In the electrifying realm of concert and nightclub photography, I thrive in capturing the energy and excitement of live performances. From intimate club shows to large-scale music festivals, I have the ability to freeze those captivating moments and convey the atmosphere through my lens.
When it comes to weddings, my goal is to turn every couple’s love story into a visual masterpiece. I have a knack for capturing raw emotions, telling stories, freezing intimate moments in time, and intricate details that make each wedding unique. My style is a blend of candid and traditional approaches, ensuring that every aspect of the joyful occasion is beautifully portrayed.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
I definitely learned a lot, failed a lot but I think, Problem Solving, Creativity and Adaptability were the three skills that were most impactful in my journey!
The best advice I can give is don’t be afraid to fail, and don’t give up, whatever problems you’re facing right now, aren’t as big as they seem in your head, just keep going!
What is the number one obstacle or challenge you are currently facing and what are you doing to try to resolve or overcome this challenge?
The primary obstacle I’m currently encountering is the quest for inner peace. While I am dedicated to my work and performing well, my ultimate goal is to achieve a sense of tranquility and harmony. Many underestimate the significance of mental and physical well-being in overall life satisfaction. I am actively working towards overcoming these challenges and prioritizing my peace of mind.
