Meet Pranit Das

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Pranit Das. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Pranit below.

Pranit, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?

My work ethic comes from growing up in a family where hard work wasn’t something people spoke about, it was just lived every single day. My great-grandfather started from humble beginnings but had an incredible vision. He was actually the first person in India to import copper wire drawing machinery. That mix of courage and purpose set the foundation for everything that came after.

My grandfather carried that forward in medicine. He completed his FRCS in the UK in the 1960s and went on to start the surgery department at St. Stephen’s Hospital, which was one of the top hospitals in India at the time. His journey taught me what it means to hold yourself to global standards while serving your own community with humility. Then there’s my father, Mr Ajay Gupta who built his company, Shree Shyam Pipes from the ground up and worked with OEMs like Hitachi, LG and Samsung. His constant push for innovation was so well recognized that people in the industry fondly called him the “Poster Boy of Innovation.”

But a big part of my work ethic also comes from the women in my family. My grandmother and mother created a culture of integrity, empathy and focus. They taught me to choose the right path, even when it’s harder, and to stay persistent about the things I want to achieve. So in many ways, my drive is a blend of their courage and discipline they instilled in me. These values are what guides me today in the way I build Tangerine Biosciences and the impact I hope to create. For me, work ethic is not. just about putting in the long hours, it is also about honoring the generations that came before me and raising the bar for what’s possible next.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

As the Director of Tangerine Biosciences, my work revolves around developing health-functional ingredients that deliver real impact. While our core expertise lies in standardized botanicals & phyto-compounds, we are increasingly focusing on advancing bioavailable botanicals & functional health ingredients that help create more efficacious products, drive better health outcomes and promote sustainable use of natural raw materials.

What excites me most is that, when it comes to achieving health through nature, we’ve barely scratched the surface. With the right intent to harness India’s rich botanical heritage and integrate it with science, we have the opportunity to develop innovative products that will redefine health in the years to come.

Currently, our ingredients are used across the nutraceutical, pharmaceutical, and cosmetics industries, reaching markets from Europe and South Asia to North America. In 2026 our focus is on expanding our footprint in the American nutraceutical market and introducing more bioavailability-enhanced ingredients.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

For me, the three qualities that have truly shaped my journey are grit, an open mind, and the ability to embrace failure. Grit has kept me going, helping me stay focused on long-term goals even when the road gets tough. Having an open mind and a willingness to keep learning has allowed me to explore new ideas, experiment, and continuously grow. And perhaps most importantly, accepting failure as part of the journey has been invaluable. I genuinely believe you’re only as good as the lessons you take from your setbacks. These qualities together have guided me in building Tangerine Biosciences, leading teams, and creating solutions that I hope genuinely make a difference in people’s lives.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?

In my opinion, finding the ideal partner at work isn’t so different from finding the right partner in life. A strong, long-term collaboration begins when ideologies align or complement each other. At Tangerine Biosciences, our goal is simple: to create value for both our partners and the end consumer. We achieve this by supporting our partners with constant innovation & practical solutions, and by making sure that these innovations are accessible & impactful for everyone.
