We recently connected with Pren’Cess Smith and have shared our conversation below.
Pren’Cess , looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?
My work ethic comes from growing up and not having much of anything, and all though that part was kinda sad it set me up to build my character, become resourceful and rely on my skills to get what I wanted out of life.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
My name is Pren’Cess Smith, Im a licensed esthetician. I graduated from Douglas. J Aveda in 2019. From there I started my own beauty business ‘CrownedLASH’ specializing in eyelash extensions, brow tint and waxing.
I sale supplies for lash extensions, as well as, teach classes on each of these subjects as well.
Classes are always available.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
The three skills that were most impactful in my journey;
Passion What ever you’re doing make sure it’s in your heart and soul meaning, if you could do it for free would it still be what you make feel fulfilled?
Knowledge/willingness to learn. Making sure you do your own research in your field and always seeking more degrees, licenses, certifications etc. because the more you know the more you grow in every aspect.
Resilience. Being able to continue getting up each and every time you get knocked down, told no, or even mess up. Getting better which each test and trail.
For anybody on their journey early or not all of these qualities can help you to improve, be refined at any moment, and keep you in your field for the long run by staying humble, not thinking or wanting to be the smartest in the room because at that point who would you learn from?
Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?
There’s not just one person who has helped me, its been many.
My mom who has always been my number 1 supporter always bragging about me to everyone and recommending my beauty business to them.
My sisters being my dummies… I mean models! always letting me practice on them to get my skills better.
My best friend acting as my therapist, accountant, momma, advisor and everything else when I need to scream, cry, cheer and talk out my plans.
My family and friends have been my rock to keep my steady and believe in my self.
