Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Preston Corbell. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Preston , we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?
My resilience comes from failure. We never really learn until we fall down and have the dedication to get back up and try again. The entertainment industry is a lot of people saying “No” for just never hearing back at all. Having the ability to keep going and hold your head up high is everything.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
Hello readers, I am a veteran Hollywood stuntman and actor. I have been involved in the entertainment industry for 20 years and I’ve worked on a lot of amazing projects like: One Tree Hill, Reno 911!, Eastbound and Down, Daredevil, The Punisher, Doom Patrol, Blue Mountain State and so much more! Having an artistic expression is everything to me. We all need to show the world how beautiful we are through art.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
1. Adapting to the role, whatever was needed on set that day. I would do whatever it took to make it happen. 2. Fight through pain. As stuntmen we get beat up and gather injuries along the way. Pain tolerance is a must to have in a long career.
3. Determination. I had to have the will to keep going knowing sometimes it might be a rough day on set.
To close, maybe we can chat about your parents and what they did that was particularly impactful for you?
My parents were always supportive and kind. I would say the greatest thing they offered though was honesty. If I was going down the wrong path or making poor decisions they would be the first to tell me to straighten up.
