We were lucky to catch up with Priscila Martinez recently and have shared our conversation below.
Priscila, thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?
As a first-generation Latina, I find resilience when I think about what my parents had to go through when they decided to move us to a new country. Pre-cell phones, with no language and no map for how to raise a family in a completely different culture. They probably had to go through incredibly hard times but they kept a smile on their face for their children. They woke up early every day to give us a better life. The way they confronted their struggles gives me resilience.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
The best piece of advice I can give is to simply keep one foot in front of the other. Life is hard, whoever says otherwise is lying. The only thing you can count on is being thrown curveballs every step of the way. What makes you successful is how you choose to react to these uncertainties. Keeping one foot in front of the other, inching towards the right direction is the best we can do. These tiny steps compound to create great results.
Awesome, really appreciate you opening up with us today and before we close maybe you can share a book recommendation with us. Has there been a book that’s been impactful in your growth and development?
Ray Dalio’s Principles: Life & Work played a very important role in how I think and approach problems. Every page is filled with wisdom, I would be doing it a disservice if I tried distilling the knowledge in that book to a few sentences.
