We were lucky to catch up with Pure Akan recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Pure, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
I found my purpose through personal reflection and questioning of life. Why are we here ? We are all here for a purpose,
to add to Gods love and continuation of his glory. Our action, thoughts, emotions connects and contributes to life in ways we do not see. I aspire to connect, inspire and share my knowledge and love through my life and work and I believe that is my purpose.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
Pure Akan is a Ghanaian sound artist and cultural innovator known for his profound exploration of identity, language, and ancestral knowledge. Fusing highlife, traditional rhythms, and hip-hop, Pure Akan is redefining what it means to be an African artist in the 21st century; rooted, poetic, and visionary. His work centers the Akan language, oral history, and pan-Africanist thought as tools for both personal and collective liberation. Over the years he has release 3 studio albums, 2 live albums and performed across Ghana, U.S.A and Germany.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
In Akan, there is a saying that “Abusua Te se Kwae” which translates Family is like a forest, A view from outside shows a vast land of green but upon entering the forest, each tree stands on their own. My three advice for folks;
Take care of yourself, Build community and Rely only on God

What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?
The most impactful thing my parents did for me was allowing me to grow as a child. To make my own mistakes and learn from threm. Most often out of love many parents dictacte and choose the path their children should tole but my parent did opposite and allowed me to choose my path so they know how they can support me.
