We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Purefected a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Purefected , so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.
By developing the first perfect rhyme flow ever: every word in every verse rhyme perfectly. No rapper ever even reached half that. Rap is rhyming. I’m literally more than twice as good at it as anyone ever, and that’s mathematically provable fact.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Vocabulary, mental rhythm and loud deep voice. Rap is poetry: the more words at your disposal, the more ammunition for writing. Rap flow is rhythmic rhyme patterns. My mental rhythm is like the physical rhythm of a master dancer. A loud deep voice is best for rap: commands attention, and controls the beat.
To improve vocabulary: read books and converse with intelligent people, and listen to the greatest lyricists (not the most popular rappers–popularity is manufactured by mass marketing from multibillion dollar corporations). To improve mental rhythm: listen to the MCs with the best rhyme flows. To make your voice louder and deeper when recording: speak from your chest, not throat.
