Meet Purple Vegan Momma

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Purple Vegan Momma. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Purple Vegan Momma , so excited to talk about all sorts of important topics with you today. The first one we want to jump into is about being the only one in the room – for some that’s being the only person of color or the only non-native English speaker or the only non-MBA, etc Can you talk to us about how you have managed to be successful even when you were the only one in the room that looked like you?

Attention spans are getting increasingly shorter. My goal is to grab and maintain attention. I do that in a variety of ways.
1. Purple hair. It’s a head turner and a great conversation starter. Once we begin speaking we can delve into my specialty which is the Art of Expression. I utilize different modes of expression; concise meaningful words, dance and movement, breath and mindfulness, as well as visual nonverbal tools.

Once a shy but deep girl who hadn’t yet honed her expressive abilities, and now a mother, a wife, a speech language pathologist, a creator, and community figure.

Purple Vegan Momma is an avenue for my passion which is wellbeing through nutrition, mindfulness, and expression. I work privately with clients to remove blocks and establish the natural balance and flow that we all possess.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

My name is Jasmine Collier. I am a bilingual Spanish, holistic speech language pathologist. During the day I work in one of the poorest school districts in NYS providing speech therapy for K-3 students, many of which don’t speak English.

My business, Purple Vegan Momma, allows me to provide services my way. I incorporate diet/nutrition and mindfulness with high-impact, strength-centered speech therapy to bring about progress and growth. A stressed mind cannot learn. A malnutritioned body cannot grow. First balance needs to be established before we learn strategies for improved communication. This is the Purple Vegan Momma therapeutic method.

I focus on the art of expression, whether it be verbal or nonverbal (i.e. gesture, body language, dance). My offerings also include interactive dance performances that weave together my experience as a dancer, music and words of empowerment. I offer dance therapy classes as well.

My mission is to help my community. We are better together. Always.
Purple Vegan Momma has teamed up with community leaders to volunteer services and time to empower the community.

Purple Vegan Momma offers products that are in line with this mission. These products include a vegan play food set made of wood, a vegan A-Z coloring book, as well as a children’s book focusing on the power of love and kindness.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Three most important qualities
1. Having someone who provides unwavering encouragement and support during the early stages of growth. For me, this person is my husband. Who saw in me what I didn’t see in myself.
2. Know your purpose. Know your mission. Once this is established, you have direction.
3. Believe in yourself first. If you don’t, why should anyone else?

Advice:
Take the first step. The first step might be, “I’d like to start my own business”… boom. That’s step 1. The next step may be developing the name of that business. Baby steps. Focus on the step in front of you.

Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?

My husband.
The one who brought out the Purple Vegan Momma in me.
The one in my corner who inspires, guides, encourages and supports my growth.
The one who is a trailblazer in his own right, and who has been a role model for entrepreneurship, business, and consistency.
