We recently connected with Q Ogletree and have shared our conversation below.
Q, thank you so much for joining us today. Let’s jump right into something we’re really interested in hearing about from you – being the only one in the room. So many of us find ourselves as the only woman in the room, the only immigrant or the only artist in the room, etc. Can you talk to us about how you have learned to be effective and successful in situations where you are the only one in the room like you?
By not belittling others, not getting the big head like “you’re that guy” even tho you should feel that way mentally. Theres ways to express that without making people feel shitty you know? I still will give what I’ve learned to others bc I feel like that’s just my job lol. I’ll reach my hand out and anybody who really knows me, knows that. I’m not better than anybody no matter what I’ve accomplished. I’ll never get jaded.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
Our brand is called KA$H & that stands for Keep a $teady hu$tle. Me and my dad started this and it’s gonna end that way. I didn’t start this by myself. He’s a hustler and so obviously that just grew on me naturally. He didn’t have to sit me down and be like “you have to hustle” I learned bc he led by example. All I had to do was pay attention.
There will be a lot of new products coming that will be more than just clothes. I want to start with accessories. I’ll be screen printing solely and start sewing, etc. it’s gonna be a lot that will happen when the time is right.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Uhhh, 3 I’d say
Resilience.
Patience.
Hustle.
Whatever you’re doing man and this really annoys me. You have to do it and really want to do it. Having just your homies taking fit pics is not gonna get you anywhere. Realize that this is a BUSINESS. Have fun with it by all means and do that but that can’t be ALL you do, if that makes sense. Realize what you want bc this is not for everyone. Are you really willing to do it or do you want to just put it in your bio to seem cool?
I’m very blunt but also it comes from love. Just don’t waste your time and don’t waste anybody else’s. You can do this if you want it. But if you don’t want it, find something else to do and succeed at that.

What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?
I’m gonna sound really cocky but birth me LOL. But nah, really telling me how life is and how it can be. Making me understand how it is to be an adult is maybe the biggest biggest one and focus on the priorities have to be the first things you take care of. Family is important.

so if you or someone you know deserves recognition please let us know here.
