Meet Quamay Don George

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Quamay Don George. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Quamay Don, we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?
Confidence to me is the embodiment of stepping into the role that you know you’re destined to be. Growing up being so isolated and not fitting in I questioned “why” a lot. The older I got the more people would give me credit for being me because only “I” could’ve done something like it. Knowing that no one is like me gave me confidence and I start to stand up tall and demand respect. It starts off within yourself, the world cannot give what you don’t think you deserve.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
Currently I am a Fashion Designer, Creative Director, Stylist, Model, Artist, & Photographer. Possibly their could be even more titles I obtain. Given that, my job is to constantly create a way to succeed doing what I love. Most people may see me as a fashion designer and or a photographer/creative director. With those jobs I am constantly working with creatives with my handmade designs. With my background of being a photographer I love imagining all of my photos being Magazine covers. I don’t see nothing less if my work. The most exciting thing for me is that I don’t see a ceiling I only see progression. With this insight on life I can work happily with myself and design the most unique of items.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
The qualities that were the most impact I’d had to be my ability to adapt, create new trends and my outlook. What I mean by adapt is that I don’t let obstacle change my attitude moving forward rather it’s a photoshoot and my model is late or didn’t show whether it’s a fashion show I continue to thrive in all settings. Being able to create new trends simply means that I have an eye to create my own trend and lane. I do not see myself competing I create what I like and what I know I haven’t seen before. Of course I study my surroundings but I see it as if it’s like nature, we can all grow to be something beautiful however, what will it be. I choose to be something non discovered. Lastly my outlook towards fashion is that I don’t see any limit of it. I look at a guy like Virgil and see he created items that couldn’t been seen as a rough draft but he made it a different lane.

What is the number one obstacle or challenge you are currently facing and what are you doing to try to resolve or overcome this challenge?
My number one obstacle is balancing time and finding time for mental health, my job and my second job and my third job. It’s funny put that way however, it’s a very true matter that we all face. When should I work, and when should to design or do a photoshoot!
