We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Quantal Langford. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Quantal below.
Quantal , we’ve been so fortunate to work with so many incredible folks and one common thread we have seen is that those who have built amazing lives for themselves are also often the folks who are most generous. Where do you think your generosity comes from?
I get my generosity and big heart from various people. I would say from people like my wife, my granddad and my mom. Learning to give (your time, skills, or monetary) to help others in need has always been in my DNA. Knowing that what I say, through my podcast, is inspiring people and giving listeners what they need during the course of their day. Giving my time through helping with the local arts community like Studio Ace Arts or helping with the homeless with Humanity Showers, or helping out wrestlers with Palomar College. That’s just who I am.
I know any of us could be in a positive or negative situation. Understanding that allows me to have a generous heart and give to the capacity that I’m able to.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I run a multidisciplinary creative company called Langfordesign. The main focus is visual identity, consulting, storytelling, and merchandising for schools, universities, sports, and technology. I have a sister brand called Just Heart Apparel, an inspirational streetwear and sports brand. A show called the Creative Brew, where we mix mindset, creativity, spirituality, and entrepreneurship into one unique experience.
I’m currently evolving this ecosystem with the development and licensing of character brands, publishing and a partnership with Bmoney Beastin Wrestling, developing and marketing wrestling shoes and merchandise.
Along the way I book speaking engagements throughout the year speaking on creativity, freelancing, mindset, personal branding, and other topics. So I currently have my books open now for any schools, organizations, etc interested in having me.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
The three qualities that’s helped me tremendously would be: Resiliency, Adaptability, Creating Connections
The advice I can give to folks early on their journey would be to find things that will allow you to practice these qualities. If it’s being resilient. Find things that will test it. I love working out, specifically wrestling. It allows me to test my endurance mentally and physically. If I want to be adaptable-learn new things and skills. Be really curious about topics and subjects that interest, sometimes you never know where that new client could come from.
Learn to create connections. Are you able to communicate an idea that would relate to a wide range of people? Could you develop relationships-for me turns into recurring projects through the year.
Is there a particular challenge you are currently facing?
The number one challenge right now is finding ways of slowly building and scaling Langfordesign into The Langford Studio, turning into a design, licensing and publishing company, and finding the clients that would be the right alignment for me. Attaining interns, assistants, marketing, additional funding sources, at the same time developing my catalog of characters and designs for licensing or publishing ventures. Eventually my goal is to have a studio on the east and west coast.
