Meet Que Morgan

We recently connected with Que Morgan and have shared our conversation below.

Que , we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?
As a native of Pontiac, MI., I was raised in a small town where 77% of students are economically disadvantaged, only 1.2 percent are college-ready and over 1.3 million adult Michiganders have mental health conditions. These aren’t the things that are often highlighted but these are indeed the facts. This is where I come from and they say the ones who have had it the hardest often try to make it the easiest for others. I remember being 11 years old when I would stand in front of my bed as if it was an audience and tell the crowd of pillows looking at me that…“You don’t have to be what you see, you can be different.”

I don’t know if it was the pillow crowd conversations, spelling bees, talent shows, or church services that stripped away my low self-esteem, but confidence started to finally conquer at 21 years old. Before I knew it, I was hosting events, partnering with brands, doing interviews and having the opportunity to speak publicly. I was inspired to show that a boy from a small town could go to college, land a career, chase his dream and love people back to life. Today, I still living in that inspiration while also loving, healing, learning and standing in confidence.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
Hello, my name is Que Morgan I’ve been captivating audiences as a speaker, emcee, officiant, hype-man, and brand influencer for over 7 years now. I truly share in the value of turning mundane moments into memorable ones the audience will never forget. I’ve also rallied around as a champion for promoting a better mind, a better body and a better earth.

I believe that life get’s better, when you get better. I’ve have the wonderful opportunity of being recognized in a wide range of publications including The Michigan Chronicle, The Oakland Press, Miami Community News and Speakers Magazine. I’ve also partnered with brands like Buzzfeed, Bank of America, Head and Shoulders, THINK! and most recently General Motors as a GM Employee Influencer.

But nothing brings me greater joy than connecting with people, igniting the energy in every room I walk in and and encouraging people to take better care of their mental health. In fact I have a podcast titled: Modern healing which shared curated healthy conversations around healing in more modern ways than one.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
I would have to share that the three qualities that were most impactful on my journey would be patience, boldness, and faith. I have really had to be patient enough to trust the process. I learned fast that sometimes the best things come when you wait for them and position yourself correctly. The second is boldness because in rooms that you do get the opportunity to shine, you should never be afraid to share your gift. I remember being in rooms and being so concerned with not feeling like I belong that I did not be bold and maximize the moment. The last thing I would add would have to be faith. Without faith I would have stop trying, stop believing and would have given up a long time ago. It is faith that keeps you going on those days you want to give up. To those early in the start stage I would say get around people who embody patience, boldness and faith.

What has been your biggest area of growth or improvement in the past 12 months?
My biggest area of growth would have to be new developed ability to reassure myself. As someone who is enthusiastic about mental health, I have really taken the time to learn how to control my mind. I wake up sometimes and my mind is all over the place. I overthink about what could happen, what has not happened and even about what is happening. But on those days that feel heavy I reassure myself by taking deep breaths and telling myself “You’ve got so may reasons to feel blessed.” Then I think about all the blessings like having a loving wife, friends around the world, family that makes me laugh and a heart that still beats. I’ve grown so much in the best year and I still have so much growing to do.
