Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Queen UGenius. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Queen , thank you so much for taking the time to share your lessons learned with us and we’re sure your wisdom will help many. So, one question that comes up often and that we’re hoping you can shed some light on is keeping creativity alive over long stretches – how do you keep your creativity alive?
I keep my creativity alive, by keeping my eyes and heart open. Art is all around us! From the graffiti on the stop signs, to the way someone ties their shoe laces. It’s simply a “stop and smell the roses” method that keeps me inspired.
Music/ Movies/ Videos/ Live entertainment- it ALL plays a role within myself and how I utilize tools to show up.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I have sown roots in my Hometown, Memphis, TN. This October, marks 11 years on stage for me! I love hosting. I’m great with crowds-I can wear a suit well, a party dress, or my dashaki! I am art personified! I love to take a look at people, items, nature around me and depict my poetry. I love to create scenes with art. I love for the words to be accompained by props when possible. I love to bring my supporters and the audience into my mind, my emotions-of what I was feeling when I wrote it.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
3 Qualities I’ve learned and keep close to me:
1. Listen to others advice, but if it doesn’t resonate-that isn’t your story.
2. Keep a reminder CLOSE of why you do what you do. Overtime, you can lose track and began to have your hands and mind in many things-letting go of what the begining goal was. It’s okay to switch up, but make sure it’s legit and fits your core goals-no one else’s.
3. “Feel the fear, and do it anyway.” I was given this quote as inspiration over a decade ago…I’m often scared-but Im stll going!

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
I am always open to collaborating with other artists. Whether it’s a feature, a collaborative event, or online forum. Together we can always reach further than one alone. I love creatives who are confident in their work. I love delivery. Often when I produce a show, it’s more of a story. I love music collabs as well as 2 person poetry.
