Meet Quentin Nelson

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Quentin Nelson. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Quentin, appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?
I come from a long line of hard workers. I am a 4th generation baker reared by a single mother and grandmother, who was a housekeeper. They were intentional in making sure that even though we didn’t have a lot, I was afforded the best opportunities to achieve any goal I set out to accomplish. I feel like I gained my resilience in staying focused on all my goals including completing 4 degrees and now being a successful health care provider and running a top cake business.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I’m a 4th generation baker running my cake business for the last 18 years. I am proud to have named the business after my grandmother who learned the skill from her mother and grandmother. I provide sweet treats, classic and custom cakes. My daughter’s now have their own brand under our business, Cakin’ with MnM, that provides small, sweet treats and classes to kids. We are now working on getting our cake mixes into a retail setting so our product can be known nationally and eventually internationally.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
I feel like it’s important to stay focused on your goals; letting nothing stand in your way. Secondly, learn as much as possible. Take classes to build your skills so you can excel in your field. Lastly, give great customer service to everyone. The only way you’ll continue to build your clientele is by doing your best to keep your customers happy.
How can folks who want to work with you connect?
I am currently looking for someone who can push or assist our dreams towards getting our mixes in stores. If there is anyone who has retail connections, please reach out to us. www.rosenascreation.com
