We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Quiana G a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Quiana, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
From the time I was little, curiosity shaped everything I did. I filled old cassette tapes with little talk shows and songs I made up. I eventually discovered my dad’s digital Nikon camera and began to record myself. With childlike freedom, I believed that any future I dreamed of was within my reach and my parents nurtured that ambition.
But growing up made the world feel more complicated. As I moved through adolescence, I realized friendships weren’t always steady, and I had to learn to navigate the emotions that came with that. Outwardly, I managed to maintain my composure and optimism, while inwardly I struggled with anxiety, juggling the many aspects of life and sometimes feeling alone among my peers.
Thank God for placing me in a loving family and bringing seasoned women into my life who believed in me when I didn’t believe in myself. They spoke words of encouragement and hope when I needed it most. Their wisdom helped me realize the need for support in our healing journey and how important it is to share our stories, lift each other up, and walk alongside one another.
My faith has always been my foundation. Growing up in the church, my relationship with Jesus became personal—and developed how I see myself, my assignment, and the value God places in every one of us. Ultimately, that belief steered the direction of my dreams.
While meteorology fascinated me, my heart always gravitated toward the arts. For a while, my family thought I’d grow up to be a weather lady. Instead, I ended up taking theatre in high school and after graduating I pursued modeling, print and commercial work but even then, I felt a pull toward something more meaningful with impact that would outlive the moment. The answer became clear one evening in 2016. I sat on my bedroom floor and prayed, “God, what can I do that will make a lasting impact in the lives of others?” In that quiet moment, He placed something new in my spirit–a vision that would eventually become Heel the Girl. A community built around encouragement, shared journeys, and belief that our stories of trials and triumph inspire and build each other up. My purpose continues to unfold every time I say “yes” to what aligns with my mission: living a life that glorifies God.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
Heel the Girl is really the intersection of the many creative paths God led me through–modeling, broadcasting school, interning at television and radio stations, and even volunteering in the media department at church. I’ve always been drawn to compelling interviews that offer fresh perspectives. My passion for learning from others naturally blossomed into creating Heel the Girl podcast; a space where women from all walks of life— entrepreneurs, artists, everyday women—share their journeys with transparency and courage. The play on words is intentional: we “heel” because we walk through life in each other’s shoes, and we “heal” by sharing those experiences. The idea is simple but powerful: when one woman finds her voice, she gives another woman permission to use hers.
What excites me most is getting to meet people from diverse places and the impact these conversations have. Our very first guest opened up about her struggle with self-esteem and how breast implants, which were intended to fix what she felt was “not enough,” eventually made her seriously ill. Her journey back to embracing her natural body (and realizing she was always enough) set the tone for the kind of transformative, relatable and real conversations I want to embark upon.
You can watch full episodes on YouTube at Heel the Girl Network, or listen on Apple Podcasts and Spotify under Heel the Girl Podcast.
Another part of the movement—and truly the heartbeat of the brand—is the relaunch of our Impact Cards. This initiative was the answered prayer in 2016. The cards allow you to write meaningful, life-giving messages or choose from messages already printed to edify a girl or woman who needs it. They are simple, tangible reminders that words matter. My prayer is that each card plants a positive seed that will have a lasting impact in their lives.
We are preparing to eventually offer international access, so women everywhere can experience the power of being seen, valued and loved.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
It’s hard to choose only three qualities or lessons that shaped my journey. My parents never missed an opportunity to turn a simple moment into a life lesson. What seemed ordinary on the surface often held a deeper meaning, and those teachings became anchors for me.
One of the most impactful skills I developed was the ability to listen well. This has shaped everything I do—especially in the podcast space. Truly listening allows us to understand people, gain wisdom, and recognize perspectives outside our own. Every guest brings lessons that can shift someone’s life. When you listen with intention, you don’t just hear words—you receive insight, compassion, and clarity.
Another guiding principle was my family’s motto: “In all things, strive for excellence.” Study the greats in whatever field you pursue. Talent can open the door, but mastery is what allows you to stay in the room. Never grow too comfortable. That mindset taught me to refine my craft continuously. You don’t have to wait for the “big opportunity.” Create your own. Use free resources and keep showing up for your craft.
Develop the skills needed for success. Take free editing courses, speaking classes, volunteer and collaborate with others in your arena. These steps can help build confidence and professionalism. Studying media gave me the language and technical understanding to bring my ideas to life. Whether you’re in podcasting, business, or the arts, knowing how storytelling, branding, and marketing work is essential. Learn everything you can from software, equipment, writing, interviewing, content creation. When you’ve outgrown what’s free, invest in a class or mentor.
For anyone early in their journey, my final piece of advice is this:
Find peace within yourself and embrace who God created you to be. Your gifts, talents, and even your quirks aren’t random. You were designed with intentionality. These are the traits that make each of us unique. As long as you have breath in your lungs, you have the opportunity to evolve and become all God created you to be despite the hardships along the way. This is your story; make it a good one!

How can folks who want to work with you connect?
Absolutely. I’m open to collaborating with various organizations (schools, youth programs, women’s shelters, etc), and I especially want to incorporate Heel the Girl Impact Cards into their programs, mentoring initiatives, or community outreach.
My dream is for the Impact Cards to find their way into the hands of girls and women everywhere. I want them to always know: You are enough. You are seen. You are wonderfully made. You are right on time — never behind. And you never walk this journey alone.
