Meet Quill

We recently connected with Quill and have shared our conversation below.

Quill , appreciate you making time for us and sharing your wisdom with the community. So many of us go through similar pain points throughout our journeys and so hearing about how others overcame obstacles can be helpful. One of those struggles is keeping creativity alive despite all the stresses, challenges and problems we might be dealing with. How do you keep your creativity alive?

Sometimes, it’s really, really hard. Especially when I feel this overwhelming need to fit unrealistic deadlines. For me, I’m constantly chasing those raw, unfiltered emotions that come with pursuing my dreams, and I channel that energy into my writing. Every day is a new adventure, and I find inspiration in the stories of the people I meet along the way. Writing is my therapy—it’s how I process everything I’m going through and turn it into something that feels real. For me, it’s all about staying open to whatever life throws my way and letting that fuel my creativity. But it’s also important to realize that there won’t always be space for that “spark.” Sometimes you have to get up, and force yourself to stay consistent, despite how you might be feeling.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

Hi, I’m Quill, a rock artist who’s all about self-discovery, and capturing my vulnerability through music. What I do is more than just music—it’s a way to connect with people who feel like they don’t quite fit in, who are searching for their purpose just like I am. I pour my heart into my songs, telling stories about love, ego, struggle, and everything in between.

What’s most exciting about what I do is that I get the chance to create something real and authentic, something that resonates with people on a deeper level. I’m not just here to make music; I’m here to build a community where people can feel seen and heard. For me, it’s more about the connection we create together.

Right now, I’m gearing up for some exciting live shows— next week I’ll be playing Breaking Sound Adults Only on September 4th. This show is a chance for people to experience my music live and join me on this journey. It’s an open invitation to anyone who’s ever felt a little lost or unsure of their identity—to come, connect, and be a part of something bigger.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Resilience has been crucial because this path isn’t easy, and you’re going to face a lot of setbacks and self-doubt. But it’s about pushing through those tough times, learning from them, and coming out stronger on the other side. My advice? Don’t be afraid of failure. It’s actually less scary than success.

Authenticity is another big one. In a society that wants to try and put me in a box, staying true to who I am and what I stand for is what sets me apart. People can tell when i’m being real, and that connection is what makes my art resonate. For those starting out, I’d say—don’t try to be what you think others want you to be. Embrace your quirks, your imperfections, and everything that makes you unique.

Finally, the willingness to take risks has been a game-changer for me. Whether it’s experimenting with new sounds, collaborating with different artists, or putting myself out there in ways that feel vulnerable, taking risks is how you grow. My advice here is simple: don’t play it safe. Step out of your comfort zone, try new things, and don’t be afraid to fail. It’s all part of the journey, and it’s where the magic happens.

How would you spend the next decade if you somehow knew that it was your last?

Right now, one of the biggest challenges I’m facing is finding the right balance between staying true to my creative vision and navigating the practical side of the music industry. It’s a constant push and pull between wanting to create something raw and real, and dealing with the expectations and demands that come with trying to make it in this business.
There’s also the pressure of consistently creating content that resonates with people and keeps them engaged. Social media is such a powerful tool, but it can also feel overwhelming at times, trying to maintain a presence while making sure that everything I put out there feels authentic and true to who I am.
Navigating these challenges is all part of the journey, though, and I’m learning to embrace them as opportunities to grow both as an artist and as a person.
