Meet Quintin Jackson

We recently connected with Quintin Jackson and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Quintin, so excited to have you with us today, particularly to get your insight on a topic that comes up constantly in the community – overcoming creativity blocks. Any thoughts you can share with us?
Through trials and errors and being confident enough to know that “you can do this” and also asking for help from time to time. For example, my passion in life is to create music and get into the Midwest music field. Even went to college for it and everything. But I had terrible writer’s block, a fear of failure, and it held me down for a very long time. But as it kept me down it also helped me get better at the same time. I didn’t give up at first chance instead I stayed consistent at it. I asked for help & looked for tips and ways to overcome my writer’s block and even took the time to watch videos on it. And if those didn’t help, I would go to my closest peers and ask them for their advice and opinions. Writer’s block is miserable, especially for those who’s wanting to write something very inspirational and/or communicate with others through this form of art. The best way to overcome it is to stay consistent and stay away from anything that’ll drawn your attention away from your work and most important thing is to believe in yourself and have faith in your arts and craft.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
As of late, I’ve been reworking myself as an artist, getting myself mentally prepared for taking my first steps into the music world. So far I’m on track with making at least one or two albums wheres one is mostly about me,my recent trials and errors and the other is going to be about the city I live in Minneapolis,Minnesota and shows off my team’s different skill traits and their love for music. When it’ll be release to the world to hear? That’s to be announced on a later date. But I will say that one of those particular album is very special to me because not only am I presenting myself to the city as another artist coming out. It shows how far I’ve come from mumbling my words and losing my breath to speaking clear as day and becoming more talented with word play and rhymes. And also shows off my production skills in a studio and my musical creativity.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
For people who’s wanting to step into the music world it’s very important to “Know Yourself”. And what I mean by that is knowing what you’re comfortable with writing about because one day you could be presenting that version of yourself to a large audience. So before starting your path towards being an artist it’s important to take the time to know who you are musically and know what field of genre and sub genre you’ll excel at. Another important thing is as an artist there’s a skill that you’ll have to refine and refine every single time. and that skill is your rhythm. Rhythm (Or another word for it is “Flow”) is how you’ll rap or sing on a beat. it’s your breathing and your stopping points. Rhythm is a key part of music and even a key part of life itself. so when you’re writing down a song. rehearse it, Sing it to yourself and find the spots where you’ll fumbled, run out of breath or even run off the beat (It can happen) and redo it, redo it a thousand times if you need to in order to find your very own rhythm. and the last things you’ll need to know is. #1. Be Unique. Don’t be a follower and follow someone else’s trend. be the trendsetter and create a whole new line of music. And have fun with it. Either create music with peers with similar goals and laugh about the screw ups you’ll make or enjoy writing by yourself. Either way life’s too stressful as it is. Make music your stress-reliever and your peace from the world.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?
