We recently connected with Rachel Beyer and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Rachel, so great to have you on the platform. There’s so much we want to ask you, but let’s start with the topic of self-care. Do you do anything for self-care and if so, do you think it’s had a meaningful impact on your effectiveness?
Self-care has become the bedrock of my life, but it wasn’t always that way. When I first started my business, I felt constant pressure to keep up with the fast pace and demands of running everything on my own. Eventually, chronic health issues flared up, forcing me to pause and truly listen to my body. I realized that pushing through wasn’t sustainable—I had to slow down, tune in, and make room for well-being practices if I wanted to thrive.
Over time, I built a rhythm of self-care that feels like second nature. From cooking nourishing meals to spending quiet moments in nature, journaling, and meditating, these practices help me reconnect with myself and bring clarity and compassion into my work. Therapy, gardening and making art have also been invaluable, giving me space to process and grow. I’ve learned to resist hustle culture and honor my own pace, which has been transformative. Now, I move through life and work with greater authenticity, presence, and care—qualities I hope inspire others to embrace their own unique rhythms of self-care.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I’m Rachel Beyer, and I’m the artist, herbalist, and maker behind this collection of handcrafted goods. My journey began with a love of plants and a vision to create products that honor the earth and bring a touch of nature’s magic into daily life. From my backyard and community garden, I grow, harvest, and infuse the herbs that inspire every product, from candles and lip balms to sprays and perfumes. Each item is a labor of love, crafted in small batches with natural, eco-friendly ingredients and packaging designed to be gentle on the environment.
What excites me most about this work is the deep connection it fosters—with the land, with my community, and with everyone who shares in these creations. At the heart of my business is a commitment to sustainability and community care. I spend time volunteering in local gardens and give back a portion of my income to nonprofit, BIPOC-led organizations, supporting causes that align with my values. I also regularly donate products to help uplift these communities that inspire and sustain me.
My plant-based practice has personal roots as well, born from my own healing journey through chronic pain and trauma. Plants and aromatherapy were among the first allies in my healing process, and they’ve been steadfast companions ever since. Flowers, in particular, are some of my closest friends, and I love collaborating with them to craft products that reflect the joy, connection, and healing they bring into my life.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Looking back, three qualities have been especially impactful in my journey: connection to my roots, personal healing, and a commitment to lifelong learning.
1. Honoring my ancestry and my connection to the Earth has been transformative. I come from a long line of farmers and craftspeople who lived close to the land and worked with their hands daily. Doing ancestor work and reclaiming this bond has helped me create a life and business aligned with my soul’s purpose. For anyone early in their journey, I encourage taking time to connect with your roots or practices that ground you—it’s a powerful way to bring purpose and sustainability into your work.
2. Investing in personal development and healing my inner child has been foundational. Cultivating self-awareness, unlearning limiting beliefs, and practicing radical self-compassion have allowed me to pave a unique path. Knowing myself deeply and setting healthy boundaries has helped me build a life and business that genuinely uplift and sustain me. For those starting out, I recommend nurturing self-compassion and seeking healing tools that resonate with you; inner growth can be a remarkable source of strength and direction.
3. Finally, embracing a mindset of lifelong learning has fueled my resilience. Being a “forever student” with a heart open to truth, justice, and love has allowed me to grow and evolve each day. Even through challenges, making space for my creative spirit has kept me moving forward with hope. My advice here: stay curious, and give your creativity room to breathe. The more you nurture your creative voice, the more it will guide you on your journey.

Who is your ideal client or what sort of characteristics would make someone an ideal client for you?
My ideal client is someone who values intention, craftsmanship, and a deep connection to nature. They appreciate the beauty of handmade products and are drawn to items that carry a story and purpose. This client sees the importance of sustainability and community care and feels a kinship with the values woven into my work—from using eco-friendly ingredients to supporting local communities.
Above all, my ideal client is open-hearted and inspired by the magic that plants and nature bring into our lives. They believe in honoring themselves and the earth in their everyday routines, and they’re excited to support a brand that prioritizes these connections. It’s always meaningful to connect with clients who not only love the products but also share in the journey and purpose behind them.
