Meet Rachel Cardenas

We recently connected with Rachel Cardenas and have shared our conversation below.

Rachel, so many exciting things to discuss, we can’t wait. Thanks for joining us and we appreciate you sharing your wisdom with our readers. So, maybe we can start by discussing optimism and where your optimism comes from?

My optimism comes from my life’s journey. I always felt that I had a purpose because I was looked at different from others my age. From the beginning of my school years, I was bullied and picked on because of my family’s financial difficulties. We were a low-income household, and we had to get by with what we had. Even though we were experiencing this in our lives, we had an appreciation for the small things in life: a bed to sleep on, bread to eat, a school to attend, and roof over our heads, etc). I was just thankful for it all which is what many people take for granted. I didn’t have many friends, but I had a dog that showed me “real unconditional love”. So, I guess you can say, I looked for the positive side of everything and that truly shaped my optimism today in what I do.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

Although I don’t like talking about myself, I have been told I am an interesting person with a busy life. I have learned to balance home life and my professional life pretty well, I think. I kind of giggle when I say that because my life is not simple. I am a professional model & actress, a talent coach & scout, a YouTube & Spotify Host, a multi-magazine owner & editor, a professional server, a church go-er, mom, wife, & a grandma. I love everything that life has given me, and I intend on not being bored at home with it all. That is why I do so much in life; I live it to be lived! An important note to all that I do, is to inspire others to keep going in their lives. A message in my journey is “With God all things are possible.”

I am the owner of You’re It Magazine Photography Magazine, What’s Up, Dallas! Magazine, Partner with The Hawk Ridge Agency, and Raejay.83 Official Modeling. I am all over the social media platforms under any of the entities and also attend community events and shows in the DFW Area. My goal is to help others discover someone or a business that may help them on their journey through life.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Looking back, the three qualities or skills that have helped me on my journey most would have to be: 1) knowledge is power and there is nothing wrong with researching something before beginning a business journey. 2) you will always need someone to help you on your journey, so be kind to everyone. You may be one person away from your breakthrough. 3) Taking a break from your business doesn’t mean failure. It could be your next step to preparing for your success journey.

My advice for others: You can learn from every person you meet, so just take time to listen. Young people can provide insight to the younger generation, and older folks can provide wisdom through their life journey. Always……take time to listen! Working on this one step is equivalent to reading sections in books. Wisdom comes from experiences of all kinds. Be willing to be open minded in business, and also understand that your story may help another person someday. So make it a good story of success!

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?

I am also looking for ways to collaborate with others and partner with people in the community. I am open to sponsors, angel investors, and people who really want to impact the community through events and shows. Positive music artists, community organizations, vendors, sponsors, designers, schools, and outreach organizations are all ideal partners for us with the What’s Up, Dallas! Magazine. You’re It Magazine is always looking to publish internationally and includes model & photographers from around the globe. Raejay.83official Modeling is looking to work with designers, photographers, boutiques, & upcoming fashion shows in the great state of Texas.
