Meet Rachel Henderson

We recently connected with Rachel Henderson and have shared our conversation below.

Rachel, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?
I get my strong work ethic from my parents who taught me early the importance of working for what you want/earning the money for things ahead of time if at all possible to be able to pay for things without running up credit cards/wasting money on interest charged for cards. I began working at my uncle’s small bookstore as a teen then worked in a cookie decorating shop, local restaurants through high school and college, at a concert venue in college and have had many different part-time jobs throughout my life. These experiences, along with my full time careers, have only helped me to become a more well rounded person, better able to deal with & communicate with many different types of people and always keep learning new things! I truly believe you should never stop learning and always challenge yourself in new ways! It just keeps life more interesting too!

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I love my company Rachel’s Creations and am proud to be celebrating my 25th anniversary in business this year! I thrive on making “Happy Faces for All” through my face painting, murals and teaching others in my canvas painting parties! I truly feel that my work is special as it is customized to each customers desires!

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
I think the three qualities that have been most impactful in my journey have been a desire to always keep learning and improving my skills, a great ability to communicate (both verbally and in writing) with all different types of clients including those with special needs, and my smile and positive attitude/joy in loving what I do and helping others find joy in art as well!

My best advice would be to find what you love to do, keep growing and improving so you can provide a great service at a great value to others! I love the saying – “If you love what you do, you’ll never work a day in your life!”

What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?
The most impactful things my parents did for me was teach me the value of hard work, being responsible with money/having good credit and always telling me I could be anything I wanted to be if I tried hard!
