We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Rachel Latham a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Rachel, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.

I found my purpose by navigating my own health struggles and realizing just how flawed our current system is. So much of healthcare is reactive—it waits for you to get sick or for symptoms to spiral before offering a solution. That approach left me feeling powerless when I was struggling with my own health challenges.

What changed everything for me was discovering a more proactive, empowered path—one that focuses on prevention, balance, and true wellness instead of just band-aid solutions. As I went deeper into holistic health, I realized I wanted to help others feel that same sense of empowerment.

That’s when my calling became clear: to guide people toward taking control of their own wellness, to challenge the reactive mindset we’ve been handed, and to open up space for holistic self-care.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I’m Ray, a Certified Holistic Health Coach and the creator of The V Seal. My entrepreneurial story is bestie-level personal, but I’m on a mission to help destigmatize intimate conversations like this one.

Like so many women, I struggled with recurring vaginal infections after swimming and felt the frustration of having no real preventive care options. That personal challenge is what sparked my mission—to help myself and the countless other women quietly facing the same issue. After years of research and development, The V Seal was born. The V Seal is a second-skin like adhesive barrier that keeps bacteria and chemicals out of the V while you swim. It’s especially useful for women who are sensitive to infections, but also for anyone who wants to keep chemicals and bacteria out of their bodies. Trust me, when you learn that the majority of pools have E. coli, you won’t swim without The V Seal. For me and many other women, this product has actually been life-changing. I won’t swim without it.

But it’s bigger than that.

Vaginal health has long been stigmatized, to the point that most women feel embarrassed even saying the word “vagina” to their doctor (that’s a literal fact). The silence around it leaves women feeling isolated, even though these challenges are incredibly common. The market is full of reactive treatments, but proactive solutions are nearly nonexistent—a reflection of a much larger issue: women’s health simply doesn’t get the attention, funding, or validation it deserves.

That’s why The V Seal exists. It’s more than a product—it’s a movement. Our mission is to empower women to take control of their intimate health, to push the conversation toward prevention, and to break the stigma around vaginal wellness.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Looking back, really leaning into my intuition was a big one. Here’s the top three values that have gotten me to where I am.

1. Passion and alignment – The work I’m doing has to feel meaningful. When your energy is focused on something you truly care about, it sustains you through the challenges and gives your work purpose.

2. Trust in yourself – Confidence in your own capabilities is essential. There will always be moments of uncertainty, but trusting that you can figure things out, pivot when needed, and keep moving forward makes all the difference.

3. It takes a village – I learned early on that success isn’t a solo journey. Leaning on your network, asking for help, and advocating for yourself are powerful tools. The right people in your corner can open doors and provide guidance you can’t access alone.

For anyone just starting out, my advice is to nurture these values intentionally. Make sure the work you’re pursuing truly resonates with you, practice small wins to build confidence in your abilities, and actively cultivate a supportive network—don’t be afraid to ask for help or advice. These three things combined will carry you further than you might expect.

Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?

So many people have helped me on my path, and I’ve really come to realize the power of the ‘it takes a village’ mentality. I’ve made it a point to reach out to anyone and everyone who might have relevant insights, and then asked each of them for additional contacts. Each connection opens a new window into expertise I didn’t have before.

We don’t get anywhere alone, and the more perspectives you gather, the clearer the path forward becomes. My advice for anyone building their skills or tackling challenges is to approach every conversation like you know nothing—be genuinely curious and open to learning. You’ll be amazed at how much you can gain from other people’s experiences and knowledge when you come in with a really humble and curious mindset.
