Meet Rachel Powell

We were lucky to catch up with Rachel Powell recently and have shared our conversation below.

Rachel, so great to be with you and I think a lot of folks are going to benefit from hearing your story and lessons and wisdom. Imposter Syndrome is something that we know how words to describe, but it’s something that has held people back forever and so we’re really interested to hear about your story and how you overcame imposter syndrome.

I used to struggle with imposter syndrome, especially when I started Juicy Ideas. What helped me overcome it was focusing on the results I deliver—like clients telling me their sales grew or their website finally reflects their vision. I’ve learned to reframe self-doubt as a sign I’m growing, not faking, and I stay connected with mentors and other creatives who remind me that everyone feels that way sometimes. That combination keeps me grounded and confident in the work I do.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

At Juicy Ideas, I help small businesses stand out online with custom web design, development, and branding that’s both beautiful and strategic. I’m especially passionate about making the process simple and approachable for my clients—because building a website shouldn’t feel overwhelming. Every project starts with really listening to a client’s goals, then translating that into a site that not only looks great but also drives results, whether that’s more sales, more sign-ups, or just more confidence in their online presence.

What excites me most is the creativity—every client has a unique story, and I get to bring that to life in a way that feels true to them. I also love when clients tell me their new site has completely shifted how they’re perceived, or when they see an immediate boost in engagement. Those moments remind me why I do this work.

Looking ahead, I’m expanding more into holistic digital strategy—so not just websites, but also SEO and branding that tie everything together. I want Juicy Ideas to be the go-to partner for small businesses that want design with personality, backed by real results. It’s all about making the online world feel less intimidating and more inspiring.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Looking back, I’d say the three most impactful things in my journey have been creativity, communication, and adaptability. Creativity is the heart of Juicy Ideas—I love taking a client’s vision and translating it into something that feels fresh, memorable, and true to their brand. Communication has been just as important, because most of my clients aren’t tech-focused, so explaining things clearly and making the process stress-free really builds trust. And adaptability has been huge—whether it’s keeping up with new web technologies, SEO changes, or simply pivoting when a client’s needs shift, being flexible has helped me grow instead of getting stuck.

For anyone just starting out, my advice is to nurture those skills every day. Give yourself space to experiment creatively, even on small projects, because those explorations will shape your style. Practice communicating your ideas in simple, relatable terms—if you can explain your work to a friend outside your field, you’re on the right track.

Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?

My husband! I don’t keep it a secret that he’s been in IT for nearly 20 years. Its been instrumental having him as my mentor, coach and 24/7 tech support. We love collaborating on projects together as well.
