Meet Rachel Stern

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Rachel Stern a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Rachel, we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?

In essence, the journey to developing confidence and self-esteem is a dynamic process that involves continuous learning, growth, and a willingness to step into the unknown. By embracing new experiences and opportunities, you not only expand your capabilities but also cultivate a deeper sense of self-worth and confidence in your abilities to navigate life’s challenges.

Overcoming fear of failure, expanding my perspectives, building competence, stepping out of my comfort zone, discovering passions and strengths, and accumulating positive experiences are several methods that presented themselves to me, granting me access in developing my confidence and self-esteem.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

Currently, I am fully immersed in embracing life’s rich tapestry of experiences, particularly through my role as a yoga instructor. I find immense fulfillment in guiding others through their yoga journeys, whether in private sessions tailored to individual needs or in group settings fostering community and shared growth. Teaching yoga allows me to blend my passion for wellness with a commitment to helping others discover their inner strength and peace. Each class is an opportunity to connect deeply with students, witnessing their progress and transformation both on and off the mat. This journey not only enriches my own practice but also reinforces my belief in the power of mindfulness and holistic well-being as essential elements of a balanced life.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Looking back on my journey, three qualities that have been incredibly impactful are perseverance, adaptability, and self-reflection. Perseverance has allowed me to stay committed to my goals even when faced with setbacks or challenges. It’s crucial to cultivate a mindset of resilience and determination, reminding oneself that progress often comes through persistence. Adaptability has been equally essential, enabling me to navigate changes, embrace new opportunities, and learn from unexpected outcomes. Flexibility in both thought and action has been key in evolving with the journey and seizing opportunities for growth. Lastly, self-reflection has been invaluable in understanding my strengths, weaknesses, and areas for improvement. Taking time to introspect, whether through journaling, meditation, or seeking feedback from mentors, has deepened my self-awareness and guided me towards continuous self-improvement.

For those early in their journey, my advice is to prioritize these qualities by actively developing and refining them. Cultivate perseverance by setting realistic goals, breaking them down into manageable steps, and staying committed even in the face of challenges. Embrace adaptability by remaining open to new experiences, learning from setbacks, and adjusting your approach as needed. Practice self-reflection regularly to gain insights into your progress, strengths, and areas needing growth. Seek feedback from others and be willing to adjust your strategies accordingly. Remember that growth is a gradual process, and each step, no matter how small, contributes to your overall development. By nurturing these qualities early on, you’ll build a solid foundation for a fulfilling and resilient journey ahead.

Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?

My mom have been the most helpful in supporting me through challenges and nurturing the essential skills, qualities, and knowledge needed for success. Her guidance, wisdom, and unwavering support have shaped my resilience, determination, and empathy. She’s instilled in me values such as perseverance, compassion, and a strong work ethic, which have been fundamental in overcoming obstacles and achieving personal growth. Her encouragement and belief in my potential have been a constant source of strength, motivating me to strive for excellence and navigate life’s complexities with confidence.
