Meet Rachel Williams

We were lucky to catch up with Rachel Williams recently and have shared our conversation below.

Rachel, so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.
As a person who struggled with self doubt and confidence for much of my younger years, I realized, as an adult, that my confidence comes from my knowledge. The more I learned about the topics I was teaching, the more confident I felt in both my actual teaching, but also representing teachers as a whole. The same is true in Real Estate. When I started and didn’t really have much knowledge in the subject area, my confidence was at an all time low! But the more I dove into understanding about all aspects of Real Estate, from construction, to repairs, lots, inclusions, irrigation, inspections, the more I knew that I knew what I was talking about and my clients could rely on me for honest, accurate, answers!

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I have the unique opportunity to help people to make dreams come true. For some, buying a house is just a next step in the flow of life, but for others, it might be a lifelong dream that I have the chance to assist in! Whether it be a first time home buyer, a many times over home buyer, or selling it all to move on to a new stage in life, I get to be a part in the process and that is something so wonderful about Real Estate, it truly is an platform for helping people!

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
The three pillars of success, that I have found, in Real Estate are being reliable, which can look different for different people, but for me, it’s doing what you say you are going to do when you say you will do it. Second is being truly passionate about helping others and putting their needs before your agenda. And finally, I would say, being a good listener. So many people want to fill dead air, but listening to what people are saying and taking in what they are saying without words, it’s so valuable. So for folks who are early in their journey…. Just remember that you are the expert and you are here to serve. You are just a tool to help them find what they are looking for and to get them what the want.

Before we go, maybe you can tell us a bit about your parents and what you feel was the most impactful thing they did for you?
My parents kept me busy, all the time. I am used to working hard and not having much downtime, due to the constant involvement in sports, clubs, school, and my neighborhood. So, as an adult, I prefer to be productive and busy, whether it be with work, family or friends, but I enjoy working so it’s something I like to do rather than have to do in order to stay busy!
