Rachyl, so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.
Developing my confidence and self-esteem has been an ongoing journey. As a human, I don’t think it’s something that’s ever quite mastered, but rather something we continuously work on until it becomes easier and more natural.
As the oldest child in my family, I had to take on the leader role from an early age. This meant stepping up and taking initiative, which was both challenging and rewarding. Being in that position required me to build confidence, as I often had to make decisions and guide my younger siblings. I feel that this early life practice laid the foundation for my leadership skills and helped me develop a sense of self-assurance.
However, building self-esteem has been more of a personal trial and error process. There were times when I struggled with self-doubt and uncertainty, but each experience taught me valuable lessons. I learned to embrace my mistakes and view them as opportunities for growth rather than setbacks.
One significant turning point in my journey was when I embarked on a personal health journey. Taking charge of my physical and mental well-being made a tremendous difference in how I viewed myself. As I set and achieved health goals, I gained a sense of accomplishment and pride that translated into other areas of my life, especially after there was no denying the results that I achieved.
Overall, I believe that developing confidence and self-esteem is an ongoing process that requires self-awareness, resilience, and a willingness to learn and grow. By recognizing our strengths and working through our challenges, we can become more confident and self-assured individuals.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
Well, I’m a growing actor, radio host and entrepreneur that loves about story telling, provoking thought and sharing in all forms.
My journey in the entertainment industry began with acting, where I’ve had the privilege of bringing diverse characters to life. For me, acting is more than just performing—it’s a deeply personal and liberating experience. With every character, I’ve found a space to vicariously express emotions that, at times, I’ve had to suppress due to circumstances or positions that I’ve experienced in life. It allows me to connect with audiences on a profound level, evoking emotions and telling stories that resonate and it’s just simply fun! I thrive on the challenge of stepping into different roles, embracing their truths, and exploring the depth of human experiences in a way that feels both freeing and transformative for me. I also love that I am able to utilize so many of my gifts in different aspects that this industry uses. It’s nice to feel purposeful and that your creativity is welcomed.
In addition to acting, I’m also a local radio host. Radio has given me a platform to engage with people in a different, yet equally powerful, way. I love using my voice to entertain, inform, and inspire listeners. Whether I’m discussing industry insights, interviewing incredible guests, or sharing personal experiences, hosting allows me to connect with audiences in a raw and authentic way.
What excites me most about my career is the ability to impact and inspire others. Whether through a powerful performance or a meaningful conversation on-air, I strive to create moments that leave a lasting impression and create an atmosphere of enjoyment. I like to have fun! And I love that I have the opportunities to curate environments of joy either on the screen or the over the airwaves.
Looking ahead, I’m eager to take on more challenging roles, expand my reach in broadcasting, and continue telling stories that matter. I appreciate the opportunity to share my journey, and I can’t wait for what’s next!
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Reflecting on my journey, I believe that three key qualities have been instrumental in my success:
Resilience. The entertainment industry is notoriously challenging, with its fair share of rejections and setbacks. Resilience has allowed me to bounce back from disappointments and keep pushing forward. It’s about maintaining a positive mindset and learning from every experience, no matter how difficult. Just simply knowing you can do it or will receive what’s right for you, is the mindset I’ve used to push through what I felt were setbacks or things that would trigger my imposter syndrome.
Versatility. Being able to adapt and excel in various roles has been incredibly impactful and is just overall fun. I love fashion and coordination, so being able to design a character’s look just echos my natural evolution or changes that I try with my own looks. Whether it’s acting, hosting radio shows, or exploring new creative avenues, versatility has opened numerous doors for me and allowed me to connect with larger audiences. I try to be open to expanding my skill set by exploring different areas of interest. Taking on new challenges I continuously seek to learn and grow. I appreciate that it enhances my capabilities but also makes me more adaptable and marketable in my field. And plus I like to shake things up!
Passion for Storytelling. At the core of everything I do is a deep passion for storytelling. It’s what drives me to bring characters to life, engage with listeners, and create meaningful content. This passion fuels my creativity and dedication, making my work fulfilling and impactful. Because I am looking to insert parts of my journey in these stories that I act out or personally share, I’m always looking for the ways I can inspire others, so that my work resonates on a deeper level.
To those starting out, my advice is to stay curious, embrace learning, and never lose sight of what drives you. Building a strong foundation of resilience, versatility, and passion, allows you to be well-equipped to navigate the twists and turns of your journey, and finding more of what serves you.
Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
Absolutely, I’m actively seeking opportunities to partner and collaborate with individuals and organizations in the entertainment industry. I’m particularly interested in connecting with professionals who are passionate about creating impactful content, fostering social connection and highlighting emerging talent.
My goal is to gain hands-on experience and exposure in areas like hosting events and shows, working on sets for movies and TV productions, brand ambassador work, and engaging in dynamic brand collaborations. Whether it’s interning, assisting behind the scenes, or contributing to creative projects, I’m eager to learn, grow, and contribute meaningfully to collaborative efforts.
