Meet RaeChani Wilson

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful RaeChani Wilson. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with RaeChani below.

Hi RaeChani, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?

I am now third generation owner with my partner and we took over from my parents that took it over from my Aunt’s family. We opened in 1982 as an equipment rental company serving the Bucks County area. Since then we have grown into party rental, tenting and event production company serving Pennsylvania, New Jersey & Delaware areas even traveling to upstate New York down to Maryland. From a young age, I have been helping my parents at the shop and working my way around events since I can remember. I went to Colorado for college and worked for a different party rental company that had to deal with different weather patterns and gave me even more confidence when I came back working events. I always like to say I have a Plan A, a Plan B with a Plan C in my back pocket. I enjoy planning parties and bringing all the pieces together and love a good timeline. Seeing it all come together day-of event still give me a thrill.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

We are Open Aire Affairs a venue management company based in Bucks County, PA. We partner with venues that don’t have enough indoor space to host events in which we build them an outdoor space paired with tenting, flooring, lighting, bathrooms, wedding suite, kitchen facilities, etc. We do accommodate historical requests in which we lay a foundation down that can be removed at the end of the contract and not disturb the ground under the tented area.

We have different partnerships level in which we can do full sales, marketing, on-site managing, planning and client experience partnered with our rental company Newtown Party Rental to have everything in-house. Our next partnership level is to have a seasonal tent, where we come in just as your tent and rental company and base the setup off your season. Our third partnership level is; have us as your exclusive rental company and we will do a full setup/breakdown per event and based the rentals off each client request which makes it a streamlined process for your venue and clients alike.

Next, we are a full party rental company with a showroom here in Bucks County with all our inventory on display. We host our clients here for design meetings as well as anyone hosting an event that would need a few items to enhance their own party. Walk-ins are always welcome! Our floral team is also on-site, Folklore Florals, to bring that added touch to your event as well and any custom builds. We are a one stop shop here on the east coast for all your party planning needs!

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

I have found being organized and having a sense of time management is essential to events. Our full service packages we have a binder of information we give the team onsite day-of event with everything the client requested; to layouts, vendor information, timelines, guest seating etc. Need to make sure leading up to the event everything you have is up to date, all vendors have the information they need to have a successful event.

My third quality would be a calm demeanor, as every vendor is looking to you to solve their problems. If you become frazzled everyone around you, will feel those effects. You need to take charge, think on your feet and be able to pivot at any time. I have been doing this 20+ years and I still get thrown through thru loop sometimes.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?

We are always looking for partnerships with local venues to see if they would like to build an outdoor space with us.

For vendors, always up to hosting workshops for photography or styled shoots with vendors in the area or create something outside the box like pop-up parties and such.

For clients we can bring all our tenting, rentals & planning experience and build something magnificent in your own backyard if that is where you would like to host your own event.

All collaboration requests can send an email directly to us with what they are looking for.
