Meet Raenice H

We were lucky to catch up with Raenice H recently and have shared our conversation below.

Raenice , so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.

Since a child, I’ve had passionate urge to express myself through my appearance. Rather it was a pair of shoes I really liked or a hairstyle, I was sure to have a bad day if it wasn’t up to me to look a certain way. My mother was very encouraging by allowing me to dress myself and make my own decisions. I feel like this helped me develop a really strong confidence and self esteem because I trusted myself very early. Besides my childhood, I feel like my confidence and self esteem has slopes on a regular basis, and I have more meaningful outlets than appearance to keep me going these days. Another key of mine to feeling confident is how I recharge within and that’s my time for solitude. Self reflection & my alone time is kinda like my “locker rom”. I like to call it that because its a place for preparation, privacy & reflection. Spending time with myself is my time to listen & cater to my dreams and desires.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

Very grateful for this opportunity with Bold Journey to voice my journey thus far. My name is Raenice but everyone calls me Rae. I am is a self taught photo artist that is inspired by design and concepts. Growing up I had a very versatile childhood. I grew up in the city & suburbs so most times I was different from average kids around me. In addition, My mom owned a hair salon so I was always- and I mean always surrounded by beauty. With all due respect, my upbringing definitely shaped who I am as an artist.

My world of color from my childhood still paints my adulthood & artistry till this day. Ive always felt apart of myself in everything. From being a track star, starting a lash business, to being a comedy influencer and starting a teeth whitening product line (WhiteNight). Overall, becoming a photographer has been an ultimate discovery of centering my creativity. At first I was just a teenager with camera eager to say ” Oh, I do everything.” That was the truth, but once I kept going I realized I could do everything with my images. I could speak the language of sports, beauty, cosmetics & fashion under one roof. Ever since, ive had the freedom of bringing my wildest visions to life within the power of imagery.

My Photography brand Shot by Raeniiice, is an experience. I execute each production as if it was something I lived before. From the color palettes to helping with fashion and assisting with posing all the way down to editing the final selects. The power behind my images holds a structure that is distinct yet open to interpretation. I like for my art to be free and loud, not so much straight to the point. To create an idea or bring someone’s vision to life is a dream like transaction that I heavily include in my style. Everything gets mixed in my images from my gratitude, love for fashion, color, composition etc. My productions are a place one can go to imagine, feel free & express.

As of 2025, My goals and aspirations are carry my freelance skills onto an agency within the next year. I aspire to produce projects with Nike, Skims, Savage X Fenty, Puma & Marc Jacobs. I personally feel like i’m ready but I know everything takes time and dedication. In the mean time, I’ll be producing more works within the Chicago community to build my brand and express my style.

Another special thanks to Bold Journey for this opportunity,

Rae

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Looking back, three qualities that have the most impact today are my family, college experience and friends.

My best advice for anyone starting their journey is be mindful of what ways your family & friends ( or surroundings ) support you and take note of how it aligns to your future. . As well as as the learning experiences you have In life, take what you gain and outgrow personal.

Looking back over the past 12 months or so, what do you think has been your biggest area of improvement or growth?

CONSISTENCY!

I used to be that person that thought doing a lot was getting a lot done when in reality it’s the complete opposite. A professor once told me sometimes you’re doing so much that you’re doing nothing at all … and it struck out to me. Nowadays I appreciate discipline and structure.
