We were lucky to catch up with Raheem Jarbo recently and have shared our conversation below.
Raheem, thank you so much for joining us today. Let’s jump right into something we’re really interested in hearing about from you – being the only one in the room. So many of us find ourselves as the only woman in the room, the only immigrant or the only artist in the room, etc. Can you talk to us about how you have learned to be effective and successful in situations where you are the only one in the room like you?
I used to be afraid of it but now it’s my superpower. I’m very proud to be able to bring where I come from, my experiences and my skillset into a room. So I make sure to make the most of it!

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I am a former teacher turned musician, song writer, performer, author, dad and maybe even superhero.
My new project “Buddy’s Magic Remixes” is out now.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
1. Resilience- I was told no so many times. But that didn’t make me give up.
2. Curiosity- my desire to understand how things and constantly try new ideas and genres has helped immmensely
3. Tough skin- I’ve heard so much intense criticism but I’ve learned not to bother reading comments or listening to reviews.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
Yes I’d love to meet producers in all genres, also artists, musicians, tech heads, and people who are excited about making fun things!
