We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Raimele & ShaKeia Reese. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Raimele & ShaKeia below.
Hi Raimele & ShaKeia, thank you so much for opening up with us about some important, but sometimes personal topics. One that really matters to us is overcoming Imposter Syndrome because we’ve seen how so many people are held back in life because of this and so we’d really appreciate hearing about how you overcame Imposter Syndrome.
When we first started our social media business we often thought, “Why would anyone listen to us?” We were, and still are, just everyday people who had a story to tell. We weren’t experts, we were just a couple of parents who loved to travel with our son, and we’d learned a lot about travel through trial and error. One day our Pastor said something in a sermon that really stuck with us. He said, “Why not you?” Although he wasn’t speaking directly to us, it sure felt like it! A question like that really makes you think…”Why NOT me? If others can do it, say it, or be a part of it, why not you? That was a huge revelation for us. Our lived experiences were more than enough to get us started on this journey. Since then, we’ve taken more and more steps to perfect our craft, like training to become travel advisors and attending virtual workshops to learn how to navigate the creator space.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
Our brand, Team Reese Travels, is a content creation business that focuses primarily in the family travel niche. Our tagline is Faith, Family, Travel, and that represents our three main priorities in life and business. We encourage people to travel in general, but we especially seek to encourage parents to travel with their children now and not wait until they’re older or adults. We offer tips, cruise and hotel reviews, and resort tours through our weekly YouTube videos and bimonthly livestreams, as well as other social media platforms to give our audience an idea of what traveling with children can look like and ways to make it easier. We also operate our own travel agency, R2 World Travel Adventures, where we work with aspiring travelers to handcraft the ideal vacation for them.
The most exciting part of this journey has been receiving feedback from people we’ve inspired to travel over the years. We’ve had so many people tell us that the journeys we’ve shared via social media motivated them to take a cruise, explore a new city, or visit a destination that we’ve highlighted. That is why we started this journey so hearing those types of comments is always a full circle moment.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
When we look back over this journey, the first quality that stands out is perseverance. As new creators, there was a period of time where it felt like we were talking to ourselves. It took time for our audience to grow, but the only way to cultivate community was to keep creating, keep posting, and keep engaging with that community. As our journey continued, we learned the importance of adaptability. This creator space can shift at any given moment, and you have to be willing to adapt with it. For example, long form media creation was our primary path initially. However, social media outlets have been pushing short form content (YouTube shorts, Facebook/Instagram Reels, TikToks) in more recent years and the need to adapt became very clear as those shifts in the way content is consumed started to occur. Lastly, our faith has carried us through it all. We don’t make any moves, business or personal, without prayer. God has blessed us in so many ways throughout this journey!
Our advice to anyone that is early in their journey is to find your circle. Connect with a group of people who are like-minded and on a similar journey as you and stay in communication with them. Our circle motivates us to keep going even when we feel like we want to step away. They push us to think outside the box when the need to adapt arises, and they pray with us and for us every step of the way. We never feel like we’re on this journey alone and we are so grateful for our circle of creator friends.
One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
We are looking to collaborate with businesses that offer kid friendly experiences for families to enjoy, businesses that provide products that can benefit traveling families, and businesses that provide transportation options in various cities. If you’d like to collaborate in any of these areas or similar, please contact us at teamreesetravels@gmail.com.
