We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Rajesh Vemula a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Rajesh, appreciate you making time for us and sharing your wisdom with the community. So many of us go through similar pain points throughout our journeys and so hearing about how others overcame obstacles can be helpful. One of those struggles is keeping creativity alive despite all the stresses, challenges and problems we might be dealing with. How do you keep your creativity alive?
Watching movies, this helps a lot. I feel like, you can learn a lot from watching movies, not only from creative side but also you can picture yourself in place of actors and build your own version of the same story. It will help me to think and write about the details or a perspective which I feel like missing.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I am a software engineer but I always used to write small ideas and I used to do photography. I have finished filming my first short film “RELIEVE”, and presently submitting for film festivals. I am the Director, Writer, and Executive Producer of this short film.
This is a periodic thriller drama which sets in 1947. The runtime of the short film is 25:10 minutes.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Travelling, Music and Movies. These three things helped me to figure out what I was into. I used to create my own story while listening to music or while traveling. I used to draw pictures of my ideas, kind of comic style, and also in photography I try to convey the emotion through picture. Slowly I have shifted my platform and started writing longer stories. Music and landscapes are my motivation in writing new stories. I would imagine and write a story which revolves around a particular location or would try to create film sequence for a music. That is how I have written my first short story “RELIEVE”.
How can folks who want to work with you connect?
Collaboration is always a fantastic thing to do. Sharing experiences and ideas helps us to unlock certain creative sides of yourself, but before all that I feel like, one should always search for what they want to do in their life. I used to always question myself, on what I want to achieve or on how people should remember me. I used try to work different things, like music, pencil arts, writing or photography. That’s how I figured out what I was into, and what makes me happy, which is movies. At present I am working on a new story. I would like to collaborate with people who are into Producing, Cinematography, Acting or any other craft. Trying to connect with new people and share experiences.
