Meet Rakesh Galebhe

We were lucky to catch up with Rakesh Galebhe recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Rakesh, we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?

Developing confidence and self-esteem didn’t happen overnight. Coming from a background where acting wasn’t always seen as a ‘secure’ career, I had to fight both external doubts and internal insecurities. I started by doing short films, where I really learned the craft and built confidence through repetition and live feedback. Each performance, each rejection, each audition taught me something. I also leaned on my mentors and learned to value progress over perfection. With time, I realized that confidence comes from knowing your worth, not from constant validation. That shift made all the difference

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

I’m an actor and a software engineer. My love for cinema began with my grandfather, who was passionate about watching first-day, first-show films—that early exposure really left an impression on me. Later, I had the opportunity to collaborate with Mr. Productions, a team known for creating over 100 short films. That experience opened the door for me to act in several short films myself. Since then, I’ve been part of four feature films—two of which are yet to be released. My most recent release, Jagath, is currently streaming on an OTT platform. My next release is Gatham 2 which is in post production.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Adaptability
Whether on set or in a tech environment, the ability to adapt quickly to changing circumstances is crucial. As an actor, every role is different. As an engineer, every project brings new challenges. Being flexible helps me thrive in both worlds.
Emotional Intelligence
Acting demands deep empathy and self-awareness, which also helps in team collaboration as an engineer. Understanding people—whether characters or colleagues—helps me connect, perform, and communicate effectively.
Discipline & Continuous Learning
Balancing two demanding careers has taught me the value of structure and lifelong learning. I consistently work on my craft as an actor and stay updated with evolving technologies as an engineer.

What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?

Everything I am today is because of them. It’s their sacrifices, love, and support that gave me the life I have. I owe it all to my parents.
