We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Ramona Edie. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Ramona below.
Hi Ramona, appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?
I believe my resilience comes from growing up in Sicily, where life taught me early on that if I wanted something, I had to build it for myself. Modeling wasn’t a common path where I came from, but I had a vision—and I was willing to work hard for it.
When I first began modeling in Italy, and later in Paris and London, I faced a lot of rejection. But instead of letting it break me, I used it as fuel to grow and push forward.
Moving to New York alone was another turning point. I had no guarantees—just determination and a suitcase full of dreams. Starting from scratch in one of the most competitive cities in the world was intimidating, but I stayed grounded by reminding myself why I do this—not just for the love of fashion, but for the stories we tell through images and the confidence we can inspire in others.
Resilience, for me, is about showing up with grace, even when it’s hard—and trusting that your story is worth being seen.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I’m a full-time fashion model originally from Italy and currently based in New York. Over the past eight years, I’ve worked across major markets like Milan, Paris, London, and the U.S., collaborating with iconic brands such as Vogue Italia, L’Oréal, Dolce & Gabbana Beauty, Intimissimi, and Swarovski.
What I find most fulfilling about modeling is the ability to tell a story without words—through movement, expression, and styling. Every shoot is a chance to embody something new and connect with people in a unique way. I continue to grow and evolve in this industry, always looking to collaborate with inspiring creatives and brands who share a vision of beauty, strength, and individuality.
More recently, I’ve also stepped into the world of acting. I’ve appeared in And Just Like That… (streaming on Max) and Poker Face 2 by Rian Johnson, and I’m currently working on the upcoming season of Dexter: Resurrection. Acting has added a powerful new layer to my creative journey, allowing me to explore storytelling in even deeper ways.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Looking back, the three most important qualities in my journey have been resilience, self-awareness, and adaptability.
I grew up in a small town in Sicily, where I learned early on that achieving your dreams requires determination and the ability to overcome challenges. Resilience has been essential. The modeling world is full of ups and downs—rejections, uncertainty, and moments of doubt. I’ve learned not to be discouraged and to turn every obstacle into a chance to grow.
Self-awareness has helped me stay true to my values and identity, even in an industry where people often try to mold you into something else. Knowing who you are allows you to work with authenticity and integrity. I recommend that those just starting out cultivate this quality through reflection—journaling or talking with trusted people can be great tools.
Finally, adaptability has been key to working across different environments—from high-fashion shoots in Europe to commercial projects in New York. Being flexible, open, and ready to embrace new situations has helped me grow both professionally and personally. My advice is to welcome change with curiosity, because it’s often where the greatest opportunities for growth lie.
Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?
My friends have been one of the most important parts of my journey. In an industry that can often feel competitive and unpredictable, having a circle of supportive, grounded, and genuine people around me has made all the difference.
They’ve been there to celebrate the highs, but more importantly, they’ve helped me through the lows—reminding me of my strength, helping me see things clearly, and keeping me connected to who I really am. Whether it’s a simple conversation, a word of encouragement, or just being present, their support has helped me grow both emotionally and professionally.
I truly believe that surrounding yourself with people who uplift you is one of the most powerful things you can do for your growth.
