Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Ramzi Arikat. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Ramzi, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
Our work ethic definitely comes from our families. They taught us from an early age through learning from others and focus one could achieve whatever they desire. Seeing how hard our families worked to provide and teach lessons along that way that built up a natural urge to strive for excellence in whatever one desires.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
Growing up all I ever wanted to be was a designer. I’ve always known that I wanted to take part in creating the world around me. Early on it was Architecture (which I have a degree in). But slowly that passion led to other aspects of the design world including some time in the cabinetry world and space planning (which I’m still a part of until today). This eventually led to a move from California to Arizona. From there I connected with a Landscape company and Zedan Concepts was born. I became ingrained with the fact that outdoor living was a way of life in this climate and that with my background, I could thrive in this setting.
What we do now as a small design company, is design spaces our clients want to be proud of and could use functionally for all their entertaining needs.
What we are most proud of is the relationships we’ve built and the satisfied clients we’ve assisted in creating beautiful spaces.
What we see for the future is to continue to grow and continually love what we do by learning about our clients needs and desires through innovative new design ideas pushing the limits.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
One of the qualities, skills or knowledge was the background and structure of Architecture which created an overall design foundation. What could help in learning and seeing Architecture in this way is to observe the spaces around you and how it makes you feel.
Second of the qualities, skills or knowledge was skill of learning space planning and overall view of 3 dimensional spaces, creating depths and elevation changes assisting in form following function.
Again similar to the first skill seeing and feeling how you move and operate through space.
Lastly, listening to what people want and are passionate about. This doesn’t take much to achieve, just through questions and learning about a person you could achieve a design solution that merges your design aesthetic with their character and personality to achieve the perfect design solution for their space.
Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
We are always looking to collaborate with designers and installers. We collaborate with the installers we work with on all aspects of our designs. It is a crucial partnership that helps embody the care and passion for the projects we work on. Regarding our design partnerships we would love to grow as a small business to eventually create a team of like-minded individuals who share the same passions.
