Meet Randi Fiat

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Randi Fiat a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Randi, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.

I’ve always followed the pull of my dreams, even when they defied conventional logic. Some have called me a workaholic, but I’ve always believed that when you love what you do, it never feels like work.

From a young age, I knew a few things to be true about myself: I was endlessly curious, fiercely independent, and deeply drawn to people and their stories from around the world. I believe the role of an artist—and in many ways, of an entrepreneur—is to help make sense of life and its complexities.

My entrepreneurial spirit showed early, as I launched small ventures throughout my youth. After experimenting with different jobs, it became clear I was never meant for the rigid confines of corporate life. I disliked unnecessary meetings, rejected prescribed attire, and prioritized creativity over compliance. My passion for art and my natural ability in sales ultimately led me to create a talent agency representing artists.

Since then, my journey has been shaped by a single guiding principle: I only work with people who inspire me and on projects that bring me joy. Success has followed, but my decisions have never been driven by money. I’ve learned that true abundance flows from aligning with passion and purpose.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

People fascinate me. They always have. In my early twenties, I started a creative boutique representing artists, photographers, designers, and authors. Twenty five years later, I founded Souvenera to combine my passion for art and storytelling.

Souvenera creates bespoke books that artfully capture and preserve the legacies of individuals and families. These handcrafted volumes are far more than just books—they are works of art, meticulously designed and curated to tell the multiplicity of stories that define a life. Each project is an intimate collaboration, resulting in a masterpiece that celebrates a personal narrative with beauty, and timeless elegance.

At Souvenera, we are dedicated to transforming life stories into enduring treasures We recognize that there are many ways to tell a life story. To that end, we have crafted several styles of ‘tribute books’ that honor the essence of a person through the eyes and words of their family members, friends and colleagues.

I’m very proud of the Souvenera® Conversation Card Decks, designed to help people share the stories of their lives in a fun, engaging way. The game and cards spark reflection and inspire deeper, more meaningful conversations with friends and family and are perfect as a gift for casual gatherings, holiday celebrations, special occasions, and team building events. Our conversation cards were recognized by the Mather Institute for Healthy Aging as a beneficial intervention utilized in their residential community.

Each of the two unique decks offers thought-provoking questions exploring themes such as influences, memories, life lessons, relationships, rituals, secrets, and the passage of time.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Looking back, the three qualities that have been most impactful in my journey are Curiosity, Creativity, and Deep Listening. These core elements have shaped my perspective, enriched my work, and guided my interactions with others.

Curiosity has always been my North Star. I am insatiably curious about people—how they think, how they perceive the world, and how they find meaning in their individual narratives. This curiosity drives me to explore, to ask questions, and to delve into the stories that define us. It has taught me to embrace a diversity of perspectives and approach life with wonder and openness.

Creativity, for me, is the lens through which life becomes art. I have always been captivated by the creative process—whether through visual arts, writing, or storytelling. Creatives have a unique ability to distill the chaos of life and culture into something meaningful and resonant. My work at Souvenera is deeply influenced by this passion for creativity, as I collaborate with clients to transform their life’s story into a treasure that will be valued for generations to come.

Deep Listening is the skill that has brought everything together. Growing up, I aspired to become a psychotherapist, and several years ago, I became a certified narrative therapist. When working with clients, deep listening helps uncover the layers of their life’s story, revealing the patterns, critical influences, and choices they may not be able to see on their own. It is an act of connection and discovery, that has enriched both my personal and professional journey.

For those early in their journey, my advice would be this: Nurture your curiosity, foster your creativity, and follow your passion. To develop curiosity, challenge yourself to step outside your comfort zone. Read widely, engage in conversations that stretch your thinking, and allow yourself to be fascinated by the world around you. For creativity, immerse yourself in artistic expressions that inspire you—whether it’s painting, music, storytelling, perhaps nature. Make space for experimentation and let your imagination roam freely. Finally, practice deep listening as a skill and mindset. Engage with others without judgment, ask open-ended questions, and focus on truly understanding what lies beneath their words. Take walks in nature to find your still point, allowing you to hear what wants to emerge amidst the noisy landscape of your thoughts and to-do lists.

These qualities are not just tools—they’re pathways to self-discovery, social connection and impactful collaboration. They’ve been indispensable in shaping who I am, and I believe they can make all the difference for anyone embarking on their own journey.

Tell us what your ideal client would be like?

At Souvenera, our ideal client possesses a discerning eye and a deep appreciation for artistry, craftsmanship, and storytelling. They understand that what we create transcends a mere product—it is a treasured heirloom, crafted to be treasured for generations.

More than that, our process, rooted in narrative therapy, is as valued by our clients as the books themselves. Taking the time to reflect on one’s life journey is one of the greatest gifts you can give yourself loved one.

For those seeking an experience and gift that captures the essence of their life story with precision and beauty, we promise to create something as extraordinary as the life they have lived.
