We were lucky to catch up with Randy Feldman recently and have shared our conversation below.
Randy, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?
“My work ethic is fueled by my commitment to delivering the best service in an industry often perceived as predatorial and intimidating. I strive to redefine expectations and provide a “Sanctuary” for our clients. I am also constantly provided inspiration by my business partner, Tom Cerino, who embodies the heart and values of Sanctuary Bail Bonds.”
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
For the past 14 years, I’ve proudly served as the one of the owners of Sanctuary Bail Bonds. In that time, we’ve assisted over 10,000 individuals in securing their release from jail, while awaiting their court hearings. Beyond just posting their bonds, we’ve transformed the perception of the bail bond industry. Our focus is on each client and their families, allowing them to feel safe discussing their situation and helping to educate them on the bonding process. At Sanctuary Bail Bonds, we prioritize exceptional customer service during challenging times, working closely with families to provide options and support to prevent repeat situations that led to that incarceration in the first place.
Not only do we work closely with the families and our clients but we also have created exceptional relationships with a majority of the best attorney’s in Arizona. With these relationships we can help direct our clients to the best possible options for representation based on their current situation.
I am not only deeply passionate about my role at Sanctuary Bail Bonds, but equally dedicated to our community and the positive image we portray for the entire bond industry. Beyond our commitment to exceptional service, we actively contribute to various charities, including Phoenix Children’s Hospital, Make-A-Wish Foundation, and No Kid Hungry. Our efforts have been recognized with prestigious awards, including the 3 Best Business Award and the City of Phoenix Award, for seven consecutive years, reflecting our ongoing commitment to excellence and community impact.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
The three most important key qualities and skills that I believe I bring to to the table are:
Compassion for Solutions: I bring a deep sense of compassion to help individuals in their most challenging times. I strive to find solutions for those in need, particularly during difficult moments in their lives.
Hospitality Industry Knowledge: Drawing on my expertise in the hospitality industry, I apply insights to develop and implement systems that expand our brand. This allows us to provide top-notch service while continually growing our business.
Team Collaboration and Appreciation: I recognize that success is a collective effort, not just an individual achievement. My understanding of the industry includes acknowledging the vital roles of my agents and business partner. The incredible family we’ve built at Sanctuary Bail Bonds shares a common mindset, understanding the fear associated with the bond process. Together, we work to change the negative perception created by TV shows. Expressing gratitude and recognizing the team’s contribution is a crucial aspect of my leadership.
All the wisdom you’ve shared today is sincerely appreciated. Before we go, can you tell us about the main challenge you are currently facing?
The primary challenge we currently face is the lack of knowledge about the bail bond industry within the criminal system itself. Courts often misinform potential clients about the bond process, creating a disparity between what judges convey and the actual requirements in Arizona, a collateral state. Judges will constantly tell the inmates that if you would like to be released on bond, you just need to pay 10% of your bond to a bondsmen. This is not the case at all. Since Arizona is a collateral state, we must demonstrate to our Surety company that the person can pay the full bond if they fail to appear in court. To achieve that they must provide our company with collateral showing that we could use this collateral to pay the bond in full . This misinformation leads to distrust.
Additionally, human errors in entering bond information cause delays and complications. Although a person might be grated a bail bond, it could take between 8 to 24 hours before this information is handed down to the clerks to enter into their system. A bond can not be posted until this information has been recorded and quite often the information is entered wrong or is missing essential information that we require to be able to post their bond. To address this, we educate families and clients about potential delays, confirm all bond details before accepting fees, and work diligently to navigate the complexities imposed by the criminal system. Despite the negative industry perception, it’s the challenges within the criminal system that pose significant hurdles for Sanctuary Bail Bonds.
