Meet Randy Paul

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Randy Paul. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Randy, thank you so much for joining us. You are such a positive person and it’s something we really admire and so we wanted to start by asking you where you think your optimism comes from?
After years of striving to fulfill the dreams set by my immigrant parents from Haiti, a near-fatal house fire in 2022 profoundly shifted my perspective. It made me realize that their ultimate aspiration was for me to chase my own dreams. This epiphany taught me the importance of authenticity and leading by example. Experiencing the devastation of losing everything reinforced my belief that the only way forward is through. Today, my optimism stems from embracing every step of the journey and truly valuing the process of rebuilding and growth.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
My journey from the football fields of Marist College to the halls of the esteemed Roc Nation School at Long Island University is nothing short of inspiring. I am a seasoned Creative Strategist, equipped with a Master’s in Sports Management, have skillfully intertwined my fervor for sports and entertainment with a profound understanding of branding, storytelling, and digital innovation. Beyond my professional accomplishments, including illuminating athlete profiles at ZIYNX and crafting compelling narratives at Ambroise Global, My heart beats for community upliftment. My Haitian heritage and the spirited ethos of my immigrant parents have guided me in making substantial philanthropic contributions, notably in Haiti and my hometown of Huntington Station through my nonprofit called The Leaders of The New School. Whether spotlighting the unsung tales of sports & entertainment individuals or driving community initiatives, I remain a beacon of authenticity, passion, and change in the landscape of sports and entertainment.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Looking back, the three pivotal elements that profoundly influenced my journey include:

a. Storytelling & Branding: The art of weaving compelling narratives and building strong brands became my forte. It not only allowed me to understand and project the unique essence of athletes and brands but also made me realize the power of authenticity in resonating with audiences.
b. Community Engagement: Inspired by my Haitian heritage, I recognized the significance of giving back. Engaging with and uplifting communities, especially those with socio-economic disparities, added depth to my professional pursuits and personal growth.
c. Strategic Digital Innovation: In the evolving landscape of sports and entertainment, understanding the nuances of digital innovation and integrating it with brand strategy ensured our endeavors had far-reaching impacts.
d. For those at the beginning of their journey, my advice is threefold:
i. Invest in Continuous Learning: The industry is dynamic. Regularly update your skills and be open to evolving trends. Certifications, workshops, and industry networking can be invaluable.
ii. Stay authentic: Authenticity resonates. Whether you’re building a brand narrative or your own professional story, staying true to your roots and beliefs will always set you apart.
iii. Engage with Communities: Real growth is holistic. Beyond professional accomplishments, seek opportunities to make a tangible difference in communities. It not only broadens your perspective but also enriches your life’s purpose.

All the wisdom you’ve shared today is sincerely appreciated. Before we go, can you tell us about the main challenge you are currently facing?
In response to your question, a recent, profound challenge I’ve grappled with was experiencing a devasting fire in my childhood home in December 2022. This was after I had already left New York City to return to my roots. Miraculously, I survived this incident, but the aftermath has been a relentless test of my resilience. At this time, I was not only immersing myself in a demanding Master’s program but also committed to a full-time job. I’ve come to regard this life altering episode as my “Phoenix Moment”. The Phoenix symbolizes rebirth from its own ashes, and that’s precisely the path I’ve embarked on post the ordeal. This transformation has been so profound that those who knew me might find a renewed spirit and resilience unrecognizable. As I navigate forward, my immediate aspiration is to secure a full-time position in Sports & Entertainment. Simultaneously, I’m giving myself the time, space, and grace to mentally recover and continue growing from this experience.
