We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Rani Alfers. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Rani below.
Rani, thank you so much for joining us. You are such a positive person and it’s something we really admire and so we wanted to start by asking you where you think your optimism comes from?
I don’t feel like there’s another way; I have a heavy dose of optimism paired with a strong sense of realism. Understanding what truly lies ahead requires self-awareness and attunement to our surroundings. For me, it’s about focusing more on an optimistic outcome rather than simply being blindly optimistic about everything. Life doesn’t always present positive situations, and I’ve learned this firsthand through negative surroundings and negative people in my life. However, these experiences have taught me to find the silver lining in every scenario and outcome.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself and what are you working on?
Sure thing! So, with EMK Skincare, we’re all about helping people feel confident and beautiful in their own skin by using advanced scientific formulations and proven results. We were founded over 30 years ago in Beverly Hills, and recently relocated the company to Texas. Recently we launched our first new product since acquiring the company. This is a long and intensive process. We obsessed on everything from research, ingredients, results, packaging and so much more. To see this product now on shelves and available worldwide is incredible to me. If you don’t mind me giving it a plug – I just have to say, try it and you will love it as the only vitamin C formulated serum you will ever use again. It’s shelf stable, which means unlike other C’s the efficacy decreases after opening it day one. Ours does not. It’s a complex blend of gold peptides, three weights of hyaluronic acid for plumping and hydration. Collagen stimulating peptides, botanicals, natural acids and marine extracts for environmental protection.
And then with EMR Equity, we are talking with Entrepreneurs on their companies and what the next step may be for funding, or a future sale. Lastly, but most rewarding is my insurance agency, it’s all about a team of professionals there helping people in Texas protect what matters most to them. Whether it’s their life, their family, or their business, we’re here to make sure they’re covered and taken care of. Oh, and I can’t forget to mention the new season of my podcast, Working Women Mentor! We just dropped Season 5 and I couldn’t be more excited about the incredible guests and topics we have lined up. We have a waitlist of guests already for next season and it’s truly a gem of mentor moments in each episode.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Well, looking back, I’d say resilience, adaptability, and passion have been crucial for me. There have been times when circumstances didn’t go as planned, but it was my resilience that helped me push through and keep going. And being adaptable has been key, especially in industries that are constantly changing and evolving. But above all, it’s been my passion for life that’s kept me going through the ups and downs. My advice to anyone starting out would be to really focus on cultivating those qualities within themselves. And don’t be afraid to ask for help or lean on your support network when you need it. We’re all in this together!
Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?
When I feel overwhelmed, I try to take a step back and give myself some time to recharge. Whether it’s going for a walk, spending time with loved ones, or traveling. Changing my landscape is key. Even if it’s a different room in my house or office, but better yet a different country.
Finding ways to decompress really helps me regain perspective. And I’m also a big believer in the power of delegation and asking for help when you need it, combined with knowing you have people with strengths around you- it helps ease daily burdens. It’s important to remember that you don’t have to do everything alone, and it’s okay to take a break and take care of yourself.
