Meet Raquel Arnette

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Raquel Arnette. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Raquel , we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?

Over the past 15 years as a photographer, developing confidence and self-esteem has been a journey shaped by experience and growth. It started with honing my skills through practice and education, which gave me a solid foundation to trust my craft. Working with a wide range of clients, from personal events to high-profile shoots, taught me how to adapt, communicate effectively, and deliver results under pressure.

Feedback has also been key—both constructive criticism and praise have helped me grow and build self-assurance. Over time, seeing my work appreciated and featured in notable spaces boosted my belief in my abilities. Confidence, for me, comes from preparation, consistency, and genuinely loving what I do, which translates into every project I take on.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

As the founder of RA ImageZ and a media personality for TME News, I’ve spent over 15 years capturing the essence of moments through photography and videography. My journey has been rooted in a passion for storytelling, whether it’s documenting private events, covering the energy of New York Fashion Week, or highlighting cultural and celebrity milestones like the Billboard Music Awards and the Soul Train Awards. My brand thrives on creating visually compelling content, blending artistry with professionalism to bring clients’ visions to life.

What excites me most about what I do is the ability to connect with people and share their stories through my lens. Every project is unique, and that constant evolution keeps me inspired. RA ImageZ specializes in event, fashion, and business branding photography, with a focus on elevating small businesses and capturing unforgettable personal moments.

Currently, I’m expanding into larger media opportunities, including covering international events such as Fashion Week. We’re also enhancing our branding services to help businesses and individuals better connect with their audiences through visual storytelling. The heart of RA ImageZ lies in creating work that’s impactful and memorable, and I look forward to continuing to inspire and collaborate with others through this craft.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Looking back on my journey as a photographer for 15 years and a media personality for 10, I’d say three qualities have been most impactful: adaptability, strong communication skills, and a commitment to lifelong learning.
1. Adaptability: Whether I’m capturing a fast-paced fashion show or conducting an interview for TME News, being able to think on my feet and adjust to changing circumstances has been invaluable. For those starting out, immerse yourself in a variety of environments and challenges—this will help you build the flexibility and confidence to handle anything thrown your way.
2. Strong Communication Skills: As a photographer and media personality, connecting with clients, subjects, and audiences is key. Clear communication builds trust and sets the tone for successful collaborations. To develop this, practice active listening and learn how to convey your vision effectively. Every interaction is a chance to grow this skill.
3. Lifelong Learning: The industries I work in are constantly evolving, and staying current with technology, trends, and techniques has been essential. Whether it’s mastering new equipment, learning editing software, or understanding social media dynamics, I’m always refining my craft. My advice? Invest in yourself—take workshops, watch tutorials, and never be afraid to experiment or step outside your comfort zone.

Remember, growth takes time, but with dedication, you can build a career you’re proud of. Stay curious, stay resilient, and always be open to opportunities for improvement.

What has been your biggest area of growth or improvement in the past 12 months?

Over the past 12 months, my biggest area of growth has been expanding my ability to merge storytelling with strategy. I’ve always been passionate about capturing moments, but this past year, I’ve focused on elevating how those moments connect with audiences on a deeper level.

This growth was especially evident during my coverage of Fashion Week for both Fall and Spring 2024. Being immersed in such high-energy, fast-paced environments pushed me to refine my event and runway photography skills. I worked closely with models, designers, and production teams to ensure I captured the essence of their vision while also telling a cohesive story through my images. From the intricate details of the garments to the confidence of the models on the runway, I’ve learned to capture not just a moment, but the mood and movement of the entire show.

This experience enhanced my ability to handle dynamic lighting, rapid movement, and diverse compositions, significantly improving my skills in event and model photography. It also sharpened my post-production workflow, enabling me to deliver polished, impactful images under tight deadlines.

On top of that, I’ve refined my branding and marketing techniques to ensure my work not only tells a story but also aligns with the goals of clients and audiences. Embracing new technologies and platforms has allowed me to stay ahead in a fast-paced industry, from integrating cutting-edge editing tools to leveraging social media trends more effectively.

Additionally, I’ve improved my ability to lead teams during high-pressure events, balancing creativity with organization to ensure seamless execution. This has been especially rewarding as I’ve worked on bigger projects, like preparing for global coverage opportunities and expanding RA ImageZ and TME News’ reach.

The key takeaway for me this past year has been the power of combining creativity with intentionality—it’s been a game-changer in how I approach my craft and serve my clients. Fashion Week was a pivotal experience in pushing my craft forward, and I’m excited to continue building on this momentum.
