Meet Raquel Carr

We were lucky to catch up with Raquel Carr recently and have shared our conversation below.

Raquel, so great to have you with us and thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts with the community. So, let’s jump into something that stops so many people from going after their dreams – haters, nay-sayers, etc. We’d love to hear about how you dealt with that and persisted on your path.
I have no choice but to keep going! I was not placed on this Earth to please anyone. I am here to please God and God only. When I came out with my idea of wanting to start my Label, I got all kinds of negative replies! I was hearing everything from women who don’t stand a chance in that field, you don’t have the money to start something like that, did you go to school for that? That is not going to make you any money. I listened and I let it go! The industry needs more women in control now more than ever! So many female artists are disrespecting themselves to get that check! Male and female artists have to endure so much just to be signed. I want it to stop! When I have something heavy on my heart like that I do all that I can to make it happen! Will I have help? Probably not, because so many people are all about money and don’t stop to realize that every business out there that is booming, started from the bottom!

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

I am a daughter, a sister, and a mother. I am a woman with a plan. I am a child of GOD and with that being said, I can do all things through Christ. I used to be very shy, timid and always listening to the negativity around me. This season of my life, I am a strong-willed woman, who wants to make a positive impact on the world. I know what I want and I know what I must do to get it done.

Synful Beatz Entertainment is a female-owned and run entertainment company, intending to make a positive impact within the music Industry. I started this company out at first as a blog. I wanted to express my feelings about the industry and celebrity talk. I let a lot of negative talk deter me from making my dream a reality. I let that go on for years. Now in 2024, since this idea is still so heavy on my heart, I am going to work harder to make it a success. I want to give people the opportunity to tell their story, their truth. I don’t want people to think that they have to portray something that they are not, just to get some recognition. To get views or likes. I am in a lane of my own. I am going to make it my priority to make dreams come true. My dream and the artist who will sign with me as well. I know I am going to be faced with a lot of negativity and hate. But I am a fighter and I am going to make it through. I am running my company with respect, I am using my own resources, and I know it’s going to be a long and difficult road ahead, but I am going to do it. I let GOD lead the way and all else will fall in place.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
I think that with me growing up in a household full of musicians and singers, is what made me want to pursue a career in the entertainment industry. I Have always been in either choir or plays from elementary school through high school. Playing the lead in most roles and I have loved everything about it ever since. Believe in yourself wholeheartedly, and never let anyone tell you anything different. Always stay eager to learn you can never have too much knowledge.

As we end our chat, is there a book you can leave people with that’s been meaningful to you and your development?
The Bible! I have started reading the bible every day and the Book of Proverbs talks about Wisdom. The most impactful part of what I got out of reading it was that the tongue is very powerful. You can speak life or death over yourself. Choose your words wisely.
