Meet Rasandra Daniels

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Rasandra Daniels. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

RaSandra, so excited to have you with us today. So much we can chat about, but one of the questions we are most interested in is how you have managed to keep your creativity alive.

The best way I keep my creativity alive is to do different things and try everything! As an artist, I find that different mediums allow me to be more creative in the medium I’m focusing on. For example, I’m a great painter but practicing drawing allows me to be a more creative painter. I am an actor but taking dance classes and understanding how I interpret movement through the artistry of dance helps me be more creative in exploring different movements in my characters. I am a musician in the genres rap and R&B but I adamantly listen and explore every other genre to keep my flow and vocals creative. My advice to keeping creativity alive is to continue to explore new things and do things that make you uncomfortable- this is how you grow! Everything you learn and experience pours into your creativity!

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

I am an actor, multi-media artist and a musician. I love what I do because I’m always creating. My talents as a fine artist help me build my characters as an actor and acting makes me a better performer as a musician. All of what I do is intertwined and boils down to one thing- my life is art and I am an artist. This is why I live by my mantra:
“My soul is not limited to the confinements of my body, my body is limited to the confinements of my soul.”

I have been on the big screen alongside Ronald Gene Blevins and Tyrese in “Squealer”, on prime time television on season two of “Big Sky”, and most recently in the thriller “On the Run” alongside K.C. Clyde and Taylor Geare. As an actor and fine artist, my favorite role is my lead role as Chya in the film that takes you through Denver’s Meow Wolf: Convergence Station- the largest interactive art museum on the planet. My next film to lookout for is an indie thriller called “Spiral into the Yellow Void”, directed by Levin Garbisch and starring the talented Monique Candelaria.

With great excitement, I am happy to say that I have new music debuting soon. I am a dual-threat rapper and R&B singer who has been working hard on my debut album. I have a couple singles I will be releasing so stay tuned for feel good music that makes you want to dance!

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Three qualities or skills that were most influential for me and my journey are passion, work ethic, and faith!

If you do not love what you do, it is not for you! I am passionate about art. I am passionate about learning. I am passionate when it comes to creating. My passion drives me so nothing feels like a job because I only feel joy. Even when things are not easy, I’m still able to lean on my passion to move me forward because I love what I do!

Which leads me to my work ethic. My passion fuels my work ethic and my work ethic stays as high as the goals I want to reach. You cannot run the distance if you don’t exercise. You cannot reach high achievements if you don’t build what is necessary to get you up. I work had daily to improve my craft and I understand the grind can never stop- I’m a student for life. I don’t want to ever look back and regret what I didn’t do because I was too idle to pursue it. Faith without work is dead!

This leads me to the last impact- the very thing that will keep you from being idle is to have faith! Whether it’s your faith in God, the universe, yourself or your dream- whatever it is- have faith! The faith is the belief that what you’re doing is right! It’s believing in the impossible and what you cannot see. It’s trusting you’re on the right path so long as you’re leading with love because faith is love in action. You will never fail at what you do so long as you have faith!

Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?

As someone who does so many things, it can be easy to feel overwhelmed. Whenever I feel overwhelmed, I take a step back and have a self-care day. I use this time to pray and mediate, get a massage, spend time with friends or do anything that does not involve working. When you are ambitious and driven with goals in mind, sometimes it’s hard to slow down but you must be intentional about it if you don’t want to feel overwhelmed.

Never take for granted a good walk. That’s it. Just walk it off. Walking is the most immediate and beneficial thing I do when I feel overwhelmed. It allows the body to produce good endorphins that will improve mood and provide clarity. The more scenic the walk, the better.
