Meet Rasha Shammaa

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Rasha Shammaa. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Rasha , thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
Growing up in the Middle East, we are taught that education and success come hand in hand. You are always expected to do your best, and that failure is just not an option. My parents, and especially my father always encouraged me to be creative and ask questions. He was actually interested in the projects I would work on, and would offer suggestions on how to improve.

My work ethic masters multitasking while giving every client my undivided attention. Being a mother to three boys has been instrumental in making me fast and efficient. Of course, things might seem hard in the beginning but once you develop a routine, it will get easier.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
In 2021, a hectic work schedule, demanding family life and a global pandemic got me burnt out. I took a leave of absence not knowing what my next step is going to be, and quickly realized I had all the tools and experience to follow my dreams. My kids were getting older, and I wanted the flexibility to be with them, and still do what I love. That’s when Rasha Design House was born.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
The number one quality is consistency, whatever you do be consistent. Second is to never stop learning. And last but not least is to surround yourself with other supportive business owners who are in the same or similar field, they will lift you up.

Also, collaboration over competition any day. Collaborate with other businesses that align with your brand and help you both grow.

Is there a particular challenge you are currently facing?
Time! It’s easy to immerse yourself with work when you enjoy what you do, and in many cases, I have to force myself to just stop. I have 3 boys and their schedules can make life a little more hectic – most of the time. I am constantly trying to find the right balance between work and family, and find that the best way is to be flexible. As long as I’m not missing any deadlines, I always prioritize spending time with them.
