Meet Rashad Tucker

We recently connected with Rashad Tucker and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Rashad with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
I got my work ethic from my parents, they always preached, “hard work pays off”. My mother and father are both hard workers and instilled this trait into me at a very early age. My mother worked for the Kansas City Parks & Rec for over 28 years and my father a former professional boxer and now union electrician. I am the oldest sibling and oldest grandson. so I’ve always been held accountable to “lead by example”. My favorite quote is “hard work beats talent, when talent doesn’t work hard”. I enjoy the daily grind, enjoy the process of the highs/lows and the ups/downs. Consistency is key, but discipline and hard work will help pave the road to success.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I am Rashad Tucker, Owner/Operator @ 9Round Downtown KC Kickboxing. Our focus is making members stronger physically and mentally in 30 mins per workout. We do full body workouts, strength training circuits, focusing on every muscle, our workouts change daily with no class times. Come kick it with us! I grew up playing sports, and have always been pretty dedicated to fitness. Fitness is life, we have 1 mind, and 1 body so we must take care of it and make smart choices. Football has always been my favorite sport, but I grew to love boxing fitness from being around it all my life as my father was a former pro boxer here in Kansas City Mo. Playing sports and being a part of a team atmosphere helped me develop the mindset of teamwork, goals, consistency and discipline. Most people want to race to the top, but hard work and dedication is worth the wait and trusting your journey is key. I love to see people grow and overcome challenges and adversity to reach their goals. It’s all about the journey.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
The 3 best qualities/skills about me are consistency, discipline with hard work, and always having a positive mindset to improve every day. The best advice I have is keep the faith, determination, hard work, and trusting the process. Everyone has different goals, but the consistency, dedication and discipline will get you there. 9Round Downtown KC KickBox Fitness teaches these things. The hardest part is just showing up, and from there we got you! We make fitness fun, and our members look forward to working out! Starting with motivation, then making it a habit! Most of our members can’t go a day without our 30min workouts!

To close, maybe we can chat about your parents and what they did that was particularly impactful for you?
I am very thankful for my parents, as they raised me to be the man I am today. Always being there for me support wise and teaching me the fundamentals of life. The most impactful thing they’ve done for me is pushing me to be the best I can be ever since day 1, being my motivation. Holding me accountable to lead by example as well. Now, I strive to provide this same impact of life to my son’s (RJ & Royce). The generational journey continues!
