Meet Rasheed Romain

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Rasheed Romain. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Rasheed, first a big thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts and insights with us today. I’m sure many of our readers will benefit from your wisdom, and one of the areas where we think your insight might be most helpful is related to imposter syndrome. Imposter syndrome is holding so many people back from reaching their true and highest potential and so we’d love to hear about your journey and how you overcame imposter syndrome.

Overcoming imposter syndrome comes in waves for me. I think it happens whenever I start something new or enter a space that I’m not familiar with. I’ve always felt like eyes were on me, watching and thinking that I don’t belong in that space. However, I’ve come to learn that it’s really just my inner thoughts of fear manifesting into the voices in my head. In those moments, I remind myself that I am worthy of what comes my way and that the approval of my peers does not dictate my success in that space.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I am Rasheed Jacob Romain, a first-generation immigrant from Haiti. Born in Salem, Massachusetts, I have lived in various places across the US before settling down in Seattle, Washington. I am also an expecting father and am thrilled to embrace fatherhood.

Moving to Seattle during the pandemic made meeting people challenging. Fortunately, I was able to combine my creativity and desire for connection to create social media content that bridged the gap.

My content in Seattle blends men’s fashion and lifestyle with humor-infused Seattle city life. My social media account serves as a hub for men’s fashion and lifestyle content. By being my authentic self, I encourage my followers to embrace their unique styles while sharing my day-to-day experiences. On TikTok, my content takes a humorous and relatable look at Seattle’s urban life, fostering a sense of community and connection among viewers.

I am grateful for the life I lead and make it a priority to help the underserved as much as I can. I encourage everyone to do what they can to support those who need help the most.

Ultimately, my content aims to spread joy and positivity, offering a simple reason to smile each day. It serves as a source of inspiration and entertainment for people from all walks of life. In a digital world often filled with unrealistic standards, I strive to be a refreshing reminder to find joy, contentment, and humor in our surroundings.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

I’d like to share three quotes that resonate with me and have guided me throughout my life:

– **”Closed mouths don’t get fed.”** This is a reminder to advocate for yourself because others may not always do it for you. Opportunities often fall into the hands of those who take initiative and put themselves in a position to succeed.

– **”You can control your actions, but you can’t control people’s reactions to your actions.”** This has taught me the importance of empathy and putting myself in the shoes of others.

– **”Nothing is ever perfect; there’s always room for improvement.”** Keeping this in mind allows me to stay open to new ideas and ways to better myself. Otherwise, I might assume that I’m perfect and close myself off from opportunities for growth.

I hope these quotes inspire you as much as they have inspired me.

All the wisdom you’ve shared today is sincerely appreciated. Before we go, can you tell us about the main challenge you are currently facing?

My biggest obstacle is myself. I find myself tripping over my own feet. Fear of rejection and failure sometimes puts me in a state of inactivity.

Fortunately, I have friends and family who support me and push me over that hump. It also helps to not think about the metrics right away but to make sure you are doing what you feel is right for you.
