Meet Rashid Matthews-Hall

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Rashid Matthews-Hall. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Rashid , so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
I’ve been involved in various communities throughout my entire life. During the early stages of my childhood I was really interested in being an aerospace engineer despite having deficiencies in my math skills. When I was in middle school I had dreams of owning my own business, but I definitely was unsure of the details and my specific path. The only thing I knew for sure was that whatever I decided would be centered around other people. Nothing makes me happier than seeing other people smile. In high school I was a good student but I was a little lost in terms of my direction. When you’re 15 years old, you tend to focus on the simple things in life like playing video games lol. I will always be grateful to my mom for enrolling me in many programs. Martial Arts was always the main outlet for me that kept me grounded despite having so many things that were taking place in the streets of Brooklyn at that time. I saw many children who were working hard towards their future in the black community, others got involved in negative situations based on their environments. Martial Arts was my driving force to become a champion and to challenge myself. Champions are always chasing a new goal. I was also addicted to learning new skills that would one day help me create my own platforms.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
At this current time, my focus is split between many different ventures. I live in Japan, where I teach children in Tokyo at various levels. I also have experience working in advertising and at a communication school when I lived in Osaka. I still train and workout regularly for my own benefit and pleasure. Outside of that, my time goes towards making content for my main platforms. Although I’m active on almost all forms of social media, over the last few years I’ve been focusing a lot on Youtube. I currently run “Tactical Ashi Garami TV” , which is a YouTube channel and brand that covers airsoft culture in japan and its intricacies. On my pages you’ll see alot of engaging content which includes gameplays, live discussions, product breakdowns, reviews etc. The use of “Ashi Garami” in the name comes from my background in judo & Jiu Jitsu. “The “Tactical” side focuses on the methods we use to prevail. I am currently focused on content expansion for this brand as well as the introduction of new merchandise that I will hopefully launch in the near future. “Rashid Matthews Hall Fitness” is my page that focuses on fitness lol. I post training videos, promotional content for my athletes and motivational reels. I also use this platform to offer online coaching services for athletes and people of all fitness levels. In the future I’m looking to expand this brand into other ventures. I’m looking forward to new sponsorships, collaborations and merchandise announcements. “Elite Team Travel Adventures” is my vlogging brand that I started a few years ago. This brand is mainly for showing my activities that I’m engaging in while I’m in Asia. However I plan on continuing it for as long as I possibly can because of its brand flexibility. My latest and most recent venture is “Life in Japan Podcast” . This podcast page focuses on content that is relevant to life in Japan from different perspectives for the right balance. I’m currently focusing on new topics, episodes and expansion.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
I don’t really consider myself to be a super intelligent person with a lot of knowledge. However, I have had the opportunity to acquire value experience that has been beneficial to me throughout my lifetime. Essentially, I’ll break this one down into three qualities which I believe stand out the most.

Communication, Focus, And Flexibility. The ability to communicate is an underrated quality. When most people think of communication they focus on the verbal aspect. However, about 70 ℅ of how we communicate is non verbal. We communicate through body language, facial expressions, sounds, and even gestures. Learning and developing this quality has helped me understand other people on a deeper level. This has been so valuable to me here in Japan. I’m so happy that I am currently developing this aspect.

Focus is needed to complete important tasks. You must develop your focus, otherwise you will be easily distracted. My martial arts training has benefited me in this aspect. Since we must learn many techniques, we need to focus to master the ones we will use regularly.

Flexibility is a quality that I developed later in life. I feel like I developed this quality by teaching in Japan. Flexibility enables you to adapt. You need it in order to embrace challenging situations where you might need to improvise.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
I am currently looking for motivated and creative individuals who are interested in sharing exciting aspects of their lives on camera. All you need is passion. You don’t need to be an extreme athlete or enthusiast. If you have interests that are related to what I cover, I want to connect with you regardless of your location. If you would like to reach out please send me a direct message through any of the social media platforms on my Linkree. No resume is needed. I’d love to hear from you.
