Meet Rashida McGuire

We were lucky to catch up with Rashida McGuire recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Rashida, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
Hello, my name is Rashida Mcguire I am the owner of Creative Kids Learning LLC. Have you ever had friends who knew what their purpose was but you didn’t? That was me & it’s okay. I first graduated high school I wasn’t sure of what my purpose was. I was a new mom who couldn’t go to college things were hard. I immediately started working in childcare where I could bring my daughter with me. During those 4 years, I had wonderful colleagues to shadow and gain useful knowledge. I was praised for the work ethic and dedication I brought to the company. I found myself somewhere that I can say I looked forward going to. In 2019 I started Creative Kids Learning LLC, providing educational tools for children outside of the classroom. I must say my products we useful in my community. Which motivated me to enroll in college. I enrolled at Bryant & Stratton College to receive my associate in applied science in early childhood education. I graduated with honors. It was a huge accomplishment for me. Here it is 2023 I am enrolled to obtain my business degree & also still working in childcare. I have found my purpose & that is to be an educator or a owner of a learning center.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
My next goal is my receiving my bachelor’s in business. I want to open an affordable childcare center in my community that stays open later than the norm. The lack of great quality and affordable childcare centers in my area is unbelievable. I want to be the one to make a difference. Parents need our help more than ever.

Creative kids’ learning has reached 13 of the 50 States. I want to reach every state in the USA. I would like to create a digital curriculum that will support learning development through play.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Dedication. Self-Discipline and time management the three things that has help me through. the journey. It wasn’t an easy journey. Nevertheless, you must be passionate about what you do. I started to understand how to assist children with different learning approaches as I took more classes in early childhood development. Starting a business is not easy, I always tell anyone who wants to do it. Stay consistent even through the low times.

Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?
The support I receive from my family is amazing. All of them understand my journey. They have always been there to lift me up during the tough times. While working in early childhood education, my boss has always been supportive, encouraging, and helpful. She is very educated in the field so working under her has exposed me to many opportunities and resources. Lastly, my high school English teacher has been amazing help during my journey.
