Meet Rashod Stanley

We recently connected with Rashod Stanley and have shared our conversation below.

Rashod, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
I found my purpose by staying consistent in what I enjoyed doing. This would also bring in income.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
Creativity cannot be stopped in a cage nor can talent be stifled behind bars! These words were inspired after social media was introduced to “Rashod Stanley”, AKA the artist “Atlanta Santana” an Atlanta-native who used his design skills to continue growing his fashion line (The Trenches Global/The Trenches Sport)—while being incarcerated.

I went viral after a video clip surfaced of me modeling clothing from my “The Trenches Global/The Trenches Sport” line, which I made using prison uniforms and materials.

In the video, I showed off my work while explaining how I took prison gear and the material from a prison mat to create my ensemble.

At the age of 20, I owned my very own clothing store on Bankhead Hwy (a high crime, low income area) in Atlanta, Ga. before getting caught up with the wrong crowd. Now I’m on a mission to share my story, create clothing and inspire others not to go down the wrong path.

I want people to know my story because Location Doesn’t Determine Destination. I want to inspire others to make something out of nothing and reach their full potential without making excuses. I also want to be a positive figure and public speaker to at-risk kids that’s following down the wrong path.

I’m now home and making my fashion line shopable for all. Visit www.thetrenches.global

I want to make a name for myself as a fashion designer in the fashion community. I also want to start a nonprofit organization for low-income communities in Atlanta and eventually expand nationwide.

“The Trenches” is a versatile platform that was all about the individual lifestyle coming up in The Trenches.

The Trenches is meant to inspire people to find their own happiness without having to succumb to the norms of society. The mission isn’t just to supply High Fashion clothing, but to depict the overall lifestyle to the best of my ability.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
The three qualities that were most impactful in my journey was perseverance, consistency, and hard work.

The advice I have for others in their journey is to stay consistent in what you’re doing and don’t expect everyone to see your vision because it’s your vision. Take advantage of free resources like YouTube to develop your skill.

Before we go, maybe you can tell us a bit about your parents and what you feel was the most impactful thing they did for you?
The most impactful thing my parents did for me was to send me books on how to sew and business management while I was incarcerated.
